  • Patent number: 7052315
Abstract: A stacked jack multi-port shielded and magnetically conditioned connector assembly is provided for assembly in three distinct configurations. One configuration is where power over ethernet is not required, but rather modular jack contacts are directly connected to a motherboard. A second configuration, the connector assembly can be configured to be enabled to receive conditioned and controlled electrical signals to the connector, whereby power over ethernet may be provided through designated ones of the modular jack contacts. Alternatively, the connector can be configured for an integrated power over ethernet card, where the device is provided as an integrated assembly.

  • Patent number: 6926565
Abstract: A contact is provided for use in an interface connector. The contact comprises a contact beam 12 having a mating surface proximate a first end of the contact beam. The mating surface 16 is configured to join a contact pad, such as on a module board to carry high speed data signals therebetween. The contact further includes a tail portion configured to join a contact pad, such as on a host board. A leg portion of the contact joins and interconnects the tail portion and a second end of the contact beam. The leg portion includes a retention segment, through which a signal transmission path passes as data signals are carried through the leg portion between the tail portion and contact beam, thereby reducing signal degradation. The retention segment is configured to secure the leg portion within a connector.

  • Patent number: 6669514
Abstract: A plug and receptacle assembly comprises a plug connector and receptacle connector, for high-density interconnections of data cable. The two connectors are fully shielded and include a mating profile including a modified D-shaped configuration. The receptacle assembly includes a plurality of overmolded webs of lead frames. The webs are overmolded laterally asymmetric to provide a thin web on one side, and a thick web on the other, where air pockets project through the thick webs and expose portions of contacts. The overmolded webs are stacked one against the other such that thin webs are positioned intermediate contacts in the same pair, whereas the thick webs, and air pockets are positioned one against the other in adjacent contacts of adjacent pairs.
