    Abstract: The present invention relates to a rod and reel leash system wherein a restraint line is attached to the rod and reel that comprises a variable drag which increases as the restraint line is taken from the spool so that the chance of a sudden stop at the end of the line is reduced along with a reduction in the chance of, breaking the fishing line or damaging the rod and reel.
