  • Patent number: 8844683
Abstract: A disc brake for a motor vehicle, wherein the disc brake comprises a housing, a brake disc which can be rotated relative to the housing, at least one friction lining, and at least one actuating device which is configured for bringing about a relative movement between the brake disc and the friction lining, with the result that the friction lining can be brought into contact with the brake disc, wherein the actuating device has at least one actuating piston which is guided displaceably in the housing in a hydraulically sealing manner, wherein the actuating piston can be displaced in the housing hydraulically and via a mechanical actuator. In the disc brake, it is provided that the actuating piston is coupled to the mechanical actuator via an elastically deformable driving arrangement, wherein, as a consequence of a relative displacement between the actuating piston and the actuator, the driving arrangement provides a restoring movement in accordance with its elastic deformation.

  • Patent number: 8200877
Abstract: State of the art processor systems, esp. in embedded systems, are not able to process data under real-time conditions especially with throughput rates near 10 Gbps. So, when using interfaces like PCI Express (PCIe) or Infiniband or 10 G-Ethernet for 10 Gbps data throughput, special data-paths have to process the high throughput rate data. But tasks like connection management or time uncritical control messaging are better manageable by a processor. According to the invention it is proposed a kind of multiplexer architecture that is needed to split between control and data-path access for a PCI Express based architecture.

  • Patent number: 7575017
Abstract: Wet barrel fire hydrants which feature additional structure for reducing the potential that those with ill intent can foul municipal water supplies by introducing toxins or other materials into fire hydrants. Various embodiments include valves which close off portions of the hydrant or water conduit otherwise available for receipt of toxic or other materials when the fire hydrant nozzle cap is unscrewed and open and/or a pump is connected to the nozzle. Such valves preferably open automatically when water is flowing from the water supply through the nozzle, but close off portions of the barrel when the nozzle is open and water is not flowing through the nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20070095975
Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism to control the pitch and/or roll and/or center of gravity of a vehicle. The first embodiment is a track-based mass transfer system in which pathways are positioned along or radially terminate at a central horizontal plane of the vehicle to move one or more mass transfer devices to a desired location to control the pitch and/or roll and/or center of gravity of the vehicle. A second embodiment is a fluid mass distribution system in which one or more conduits selectively distribute a fluid to one or more tanks positioned near a central horizontal plane of the vehicle to control the pitch and/or roll and/or center of gravity of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20060192353
Abstract: An arming signal for enabling deployment of rollover safety devices by a vehicle rollover detection apparatus is based on an off-axis measure of vehicle acceleration. A low-g accelerometer mounted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle but at an angle with respect to Earth's ground plane detects components of both lateral and vertical vehicle accelerations. The measurement angle is selected to apportion the lateral vs. vertical measurement sensitivity in accordance with calibrated lateral and vertical acceleration thresholds, and an arming signal is generated when a filtered version of the measured acceleration exceeds an arming threshold.

  • Publication number: 20060065777
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention relate generally to systems for providing active vertical control of an airship. More particularly, at least one embodiment of the invention relates to a system for actively controlling the aerostatic lift of an airship by manipulating the ratio of air to lifting gas contained within the airship, and thus the overall mass of the airship. This manipulation is accomplished by actively compressing and/or decompressing the lifting gas or internal air, with the resulting pressure differential borne primarily by the hull and/or an internal pressure tank depending upon the configuration.
