  • Publication number: 20080186529
Abstract: A Job Monitor for providing printer recognition and management of a print job entity is described. The Job Monitor includes a repository of attributes and status associated with each print job that passes through the system. Interfaces to the Job Monitor provide the ability for components to process a job according to the unique requirements of the processing component, and report job attributes and processing status of the job to the Job Monitor for common access by other components. Each component has access to common variables and can present job attributes or status to its respective external interface according to the unique requirements dictated by the external interface. Additionally, internal job processing components interface with the Job Monitor to access and report current processing status. The common status repository provided by the Job Monitor is used by the Job Monitor and other components to control the sequence of processing within the printer.

  • Publication number: 20080058724
Abstract: Method and system for inserting an implant, such as vaso-occlusive device, an embolic containment device, or a stent into a vascular space to a vascular site in a body utilizing a lumen-reducing catheter. The method and system can be used to treat aneurysm, tumors and other vascular malformations. A guide is inserted into the vascular space. First and second catheters are inserted into the vascular space along the guide. The first or delivery catheter defines a first cavity, and the second or lumen-reducing catheter defines a second, smaller cavity. The second catheter is inserted within the first catheter. In one embodiment, an implant is advanced together with the first and second catheters to a vascular site. In an alternative embodiment, after the first and second catheters are positioned, the guide and the second catheter are removed from the first cavity, and an implant is inserted through the first cavity.

  • Publication number: 20070213764
Abstract: Methods and devices for blocking orifices and occluding cavities within a patient are provided. The device in one variation comprises first and second tubular members attached to a collapsible sealing element. The device can be placed through an orifice and the collapsible sealing element can be collapsed to seal the orifice. An embolic may be introduced distal to the sealing element to occlude a cavity. The device may incorporate a locking mechanism which can be engaged to lock the sealing element into the collapsed position. The device may incorporate a valve to prevent flow through the tubular members, for example to prevent egress of the embolic from a cavity. The device can be detached to provide a permanent seal of the orifice, and can retain the embolic within the cavity. The device may be used in conjunction with a stent or other retention device to assist the sealing element in maintaining the seal.

  • Publication number: 20070135861
Abstract: A method of treating a neurological disorder in a patient is provided. The method comprises intravascularly delivering a stimulation lead within the head of the patient, and placing the stimulation lead adjacent brain tissue (e.g., cortical brain tissue or deep brain tissue), the stimulation of which will treat the neurological disorder. The stimulation lead can be placed into indirect contact with the brain tissue (e.g., through a blood vessel) or indirect contact with the brain tissue (e.g., when placed within the ventricular cavity or by being introduced through an exit point within a vessel wall). Optionally, the method comprises implanting a source of stimulation within the patient's body, and then electrically coupling the proximal end of the stimulation lead, which conveniently extends from the access point within the circulatory system, to the implanted stimulation source. Using the stimulation lead, the brain tissue can then be stimulated in order to treat the neurological disorder.

The catalyst systems of the invention provide for controlled chain defects/defect distribution and thus a regulated microtacticity. Consequently, the curve of storage modulus (G?) v. temperature is shifted such that the film achieves the same storage modulus at a lower temperature enabling faster throughput of polypropylene film through a high-speed tenter.

  • Publication number: 20070106311
Abstract: The present invention is directed to systems for occluding an aneurysm having an aneurysmal neck and an aneurysmal inner wall. Generally, a device in accordance with the present invention includes a mesh-like structure that is integrally composed of a shape-memory alloy such as NiTi. The device is deployed within the aneurysm through the aneurysmal neck. The device is configured to be in a deployed state and an undeployed state, and is configured to transition from the undeployed state to the deployed state by exposure to a higher temperature and/or by being unconstrained. The device may function to retain finer vaso-occlusive devices such as vaso-occlusive coils and/or embolic liquids. Furthermore, the device itself may function as a vaso-occlusive device.

  • Publication number: 20070041180
Abstract: The present invention provides a portable illumination apparatus that is quickly installed into an existing cupboard or cabinet. The portable illumination apparatus runs on battery power and typically includes incandescent lamps, or LED lamps. An automatic on/off switching unit is responsive to the opening and closing of the cabinet door. In the preferred embodiment, the switching unit includes a protruding member which extends to the cabinet door. When the cabinet door is closed it rotates or depresses the protruding member, which in turn opens the switching unit contacts. When the cabinet door opens, a resilient member within the switching unit forces the contacts closed, thus providing battery power to the lamps, which then become illuminated.
