  • Patent number: 11959442
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system for an internal combustion (IC) engine. The EGR system has a first cooler configured to cool exhaust from an exhaust system of the IC and to drain exhaust liquid formed by the cooling. The EGR system has a mixture chamber configured to mix exhaust cooled by the first cooler with intake air to form an exhaust-air mixture. The EGR system has a second cooler configured to cool the exhaust-air mixture. The EGR system has a heat exchange system for circulating and cooling coolant fluid used by the first and second coolers, and includes a split valve configured to divide coolant fluid flow between the first and second coolers. The EGR system has an engine control module configured to adjust the split valve based on comparing a temperature of the exhaust-air mixture to a determined dewpoint temperature of the exhaust-air mixture.

  • Patent number: 11913976
Abstract: A field device having a safe interface is based on two voltage regulators designed to set electrical current between corresponding contacts of the interface. The field device tests via which of the contacts the field device is connected with a superordinate unit and an automatic configuration of the interface can be performed for the appropriate transmission standard. Because the contacting to the superordinated unit is checked repetitively by means of two electrical current regulators it is assured that the field device can determine and automatically react to a change of the contacting at the interface even during measurement operation. This makes the interface safe and thereby increases the safety of the process plant, in which the field device is applied.

  • Patent number: 11390267
Abstract: A method for operating a motor vehicle having an engine and an electric machine, a transmission, a battery, and an exhaust treatment system having a particulate filter. The battery discharges during a charge-depleting mode of the electrical machine and charges when the electrical machine operates as a generator such that the battery charge state moves between lower and upper limits. If a filter regeneration requirement is detected, the filter is regenerated by raising the temperature of the exhaust gas. When the need for filter regeneration is detected, the battery is discharged to below the lower limit, in the charge-depleting mode of the electrical machine, prior to the regeneration. Subsequently, to regenerate the filter, the engine is operated to raise the exhaust gas temperature by increasing the torque provided by the engine, and the electric machine operates as a generator to charge the battery and/or operate an auxiliary electrical load.

  • Patent number: 10948008
Abstract: A method for producing a profiled hollow shaft for a telescopic steering shaft of a motor vehicle may involve providing a hollow shaft to be processed, a profile mandrel, and a roller head comprising at least one roller. The method may further involve introducing the profile mandrel into the hollow shaft in order to produce a groove in the hollow shaft. The method may also involve moving the profile mandrel and the hollow shaft together relative to the roller head, wherein movement of the profile mandrel and the hollow shaft relative to the roller head is performed exclusively in a direction of a longitudinal axis of the hollow shaft in order to form a groove.

  • Patent number: 10619599
Abstract: A fuel supply system for propane and other LPG fuels is disclosed for internal combustion engines such as spark-ignited direct-injection (SIDI) engines, with features that help manage both liquid and gaseous phases of the LPG fuel. Preferably adapted for use with replaceable fuel canisters, the ECM-managed system has a hot-soak vapor purge system as well as various sensors and valves to prevent excessive boil-off and to otherwise manage the heat and the related liquid-vapor balance of the fuel supply.

  • Patent number: 8286611
Abstract: The invention includes a very fast voice coil actuator, in the range of 2-5 millisecond full stroke response with high force, a circuit board located in the enclosure, a pressure sensor sensing pressure internal to the system which in the preferred embodiment is located in the actuator cap assembly but could be located in other locations, a diaphragm, a link plate, a mating ring, and a mechanical pressure regulator. An electronic pressure regulator receives pressure commands from the engine control module in a manner similar to receiving pulse width from an engine control module to an injector and calculates the required new pressure command. A novel feature of the present invention includes the Delta P control and the control of the regulator based on direct feedback of pressure.
