The system may include a lower support; a guide member interior to the lower support; a telescoping upper support inside the lower support and axially movable between an extended position and a retracted position, the upper support being at least partially received in an annular space between the lower support and the guide member; a biasing member biasing the upper support to the extended position; and a locking assembly partially surrounding the lower support at one end of the lower support. The locking assembly may include a body having a passage in which the upper support slides therethrough, and enclosing the passage at a first end while maintaining the passage in fluid communication with the interior of the lower support; and a lock configured to selectably engage the upper support to constrain axial motion of the upper support.

The joint includes a lower adaptor comprising a lower pivot member defining a first central wiring passage and an upper adaptor comprising an upper pivot member defining a second central wiring passage communicating with the first central wiring passage. The upper pivot member is rotationally coupled to the lower pivot member, and sharing a common axis of rotation. At least one of the lower adaptor and the upper adaptor comprises a pole adaptor mounted at an operative angle to the axis of rotation. The pole adaptor includes an open end for receiving an end of a pole section, and an internal wiring tube communicating with the first central wiring passage and the second central wiring passage.

Abstract: An anchoring system for a hoop house includes a horizontal member. The horizontal member includes an anchor connector and a hoop connector. An anchor can be removably affixed to the anchor connector of the horizontal member. Moreover, an end of a hoop can be connected to the hoop connector. The anchor can include an attachment member that defines a non-vertical passage, where a post member can be inserted into the non-vertical passage and driven into the ground at an angle.

Abstract: A switch for use in a pole for situating an electrical fixture remote from a base position is described. The pole is moveable between an operating position and a maintenance position, and the switch may automatically connect/disconnect power to the electrical fixture based on the position of the pole. The switch comprises a sensor for measuring an orientation of the switch, a microcontroller for processing the orientation of the switch as measured by the sensor and providing a microcontroller output signal based on the processing of the orientation of the switch, and a controllable switch for connecting and disconnecting the electrical fixture to and from a power source based on the microcontroller output signal.
