  • Patent number: 9654904
Abstract: A method and system for pairing devices comprises transmitting a plurality of communication signals from each of a plurality of devices and setting an initial threshold vector of signal strengths as a current threshold vector of signal strengths for at least one target device selected from among the plurality of devices. The embodiment includes pairing at least one client device with the at least one target device when a measured vector of signal strengths exceeds the current threshold vector of signal strengths and adjusting the current threshold vector of signal strengths according to the pairing between the client device and the target device, thereby adaptively adjusting the current threshold vector of signal strengths.

  • Publication number: 20170065269
Abstract: An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.

  • Publication number: 20160357973
Abstract: In general, embodiments of the invention include methods and apparatuses for securely storing computer system data. Embodiments of the invention encrypt and decrypt SATA data transparently to software layers. That makes it unnecessary to make any software modifications to the file system, device drivers, operating system, or application. Encryption key management is performed either remotely on a centralized Remote Management System or locally. Embodiments of the invention implement background disk backups using snapshots. Additional security features that are included in embodiments of the invention include virus scanning, a virtual/network drive, a RAM drive and a port selector that provides prioritized and/or background access to SATA mass storage to a secure subsystem.

  • Publication number: 20160310948
Abstract: A disposable cassette for detecting nucleic acids or performing other assays. The cassette can be inserted into a base station during use. The cassette has numerous features to ensure correct operation of the device under gravity, such as vent pockets for enabling the flow of sample fluid from one chamber to the next when the vent pocket is unsealed. The vent pockets have protrusions to help prevent accidental resealing. The cassette also can have a gasket to ensure free air movement between open vent pockets. A flexible circuit with patterned metallic electrical components disposed on a heat stable material can be in direct contact with fluid in the chambers and has resistive heating elements aligned with the vent pockets and the chambers.

  • Publication number: 20160306576
Abstract: The present invention relates to providing security functionality over computer system mass storage data, and more particularly relates to a system and method of transparent data backup on either local or remote storage devices such as SATA storage devices. According to aspects of the invention, the system is transparent to operating system and application software layers. That makes it unnecessary to make any software modifications to the file system, device drivers, operating system, or applications, or installing specialized applications or hardware. In embodiments, the snapshot functionality of the invention is implemented entirely in hardware, and is not designed to slow down performance of the rest of the system.

  • Publication number: 20160250927
Abstract: An electrified powertrain system for a vehicle includes an electric machine coupled to a driveline. An inverter controller communicates directly with an auxiliary power module. An ignition module indicates either a key-on state or a key-off state. When the ignition module is in a key-off state, a low-power DC/DC converter generates an output voltage originating on the high-voltage DC bus having a magnitude sufficient to activate the inverter controller. The inverter controller detects a key-off uncontrolled generator (UCG) mode. The inverter controller directly communicates detection of the key-off UCG mode to the auxiliary power module. The inverter controller controls the inverter. The auxiliary power module supplies electric power to operate low-voltage electrically-powered powertrain actuators.

  • Patent number: 9329789
Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently operating on a storage device are provided. In some embodiments, systems and methods for operating on a storage device having a data portion and a log portion with a plurality of regions are provided. A write command is received with a storage device controller. The write command may include an address portion and a data portion. A current position in the log is identified that corresponds to a first of the plurality of regions to which data has been written last. Data stored in a second of the plurality of regions is selectively transferred to the data portion of the storage device based on validity and frequency of use of the data. The data and address portions included in the write command are stored to the log portion based on the current position.
