Patent number: 10867021Abstract: Methods and systems for authenticating a user are described. In some embodiments, a series of voice interactions are received from a user during a voiceline session. Each of the voice interactions in the series of voice interaction may be analyzed as each of the voice interactions are received. A confidence level in a verification of an identity of the user may be determined based on the analysis of each of the voice interactions. An access level for the user may be automatically updated based on the confidence level of the verification of the identity of the user after each of the voice interactions is received.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2019Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: John Shelton, Michael Wayne Lester, Debra Randall Casillas, Sudarshan Rangarajan, Maland Keith Mortensen

Patent number: 10424303Abstract: Methods and systems for authenticating a user are described. In some embodiments, a one-time token and a recording of the one-time token is read aloud by the user. The voice characteristics derived from the recording of the one-time token are compared with voice characteristics derived from samples of the user's voice. The user may be authenticated when the one-time token is verified and when a match of the voice characteristics derived from the recording of the one-time token and the voice characteristics derived from the samples of the user's voice meet or exceed a threshold.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2018Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Michael Wayne Lester, Debra Randall Casillas, Sudarshan Rangarajan, John Shelton, Maland Keith Mortensen

Patent number: 8489476Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for managing transaction data from a plurality of financial services for a suspicious activity monitor (SAM). In one implementation, transaction data from each financial service is conformed to a standard format for publication. The publication may occur either substantially in real time as each transaction is conducted, at predefined intervals, or in periodic batches. A SAM data manager may then retrieve and process the transaction messages, including filtering non-required transactions, removing levels of hierarchy from the data, arranging the data in a predefined document structure, adding tags that may be required by the SAM tool, and creating SAM messages. The SAM data manager may thereafter forward the SAM messages to the SAM tool for analysis. In some embodiments, the SAM data manager may also send any updates of member and account data contained in the transaction messages to a central repository for such data.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2008Date of Patent: July 16, 2013Assignee: United States Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Michael Wayne Lester, Stephen E. Patent number: 8321423Abstract: A method of sharing user data with a plurality of web-based financial calculators includes obtaining a user request for a selected web-based financial calculator from the plurality of web-based financial calculators and identifying at least one input data element required by the selected web-based financial calculator. The method also includes searching a relational database, storing data shared by the plurality of web-based financial calculators, for the at least one identified input data element and determining whether there are any values in the relational database for the at least one identified input data element that are associated with the user. The method further includes populating the at least one identified input data element in the selected web-based financial calculator with a value associated with the user for the at least one identified input data element and providing the selected web-based financial calculator to the user.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2011Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Mason Eubank, Nikolay Eshkenazi, Neff Karl Hudson, Michael Wayne Lester

Patent number: 8078517Abstract: Financial transactions may be monitored for reporting requirements and regulatory compliance. A system provides for receipt of remittances, recognition of payment documents, storage of transaction information, and compliance verification by matching one or more cash equivalent transactions (CETs) made by an individual to determine if the aggregate of the transactions should be reported to meet compliance regulations. Images of the documents may be reviewed by an analyst to determine an account number and/or routing number associated with imaged document. If the information associated with the document reviewed has not been previously reviewed, it may be placed on a list of documents associated with CET transactions such that the document may be determined to be a CET in subsequent encounters with the document without human intervention.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2008Date of Patent: December 13, 2011Assignee: United Services Automobile AssociationInventors: Joe Ray Martin, Michael Wayne Lester, Patrick William Walker Evans, Patrick Robert Ernst, Ronald David Young, Marie Elizabeth Hollinger, Omar Alejandro Pina
