  • Publication number: 20020156812
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for satisfying a single request from a client for a plurality of content components derived from content hosted by a plurality of distinct, separately accessible component servers comprises receiving a single request specifying the content components; after receiving the single request, generating a plurality of information requests for the content; sending each information request to the component server hosting the content corresponding to the information request before receiving a response to any of the information requests; forming the content components from the responses to the information requests; and transmitting the content components to the client.

  • Publication number: 20020113718
Abstract: A downhole telemetry system that transmits a burst-QAM uplink signal to the surface of the well is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a downhole instrument coupled to a pair of conductors in a wireline or composite tubing string transmits a burst-QAM uplink signal to a surface system. The burst-QAM signal preferably comprises a series of data frames carrying telemetry data. Each data frame is preferably preceded by a quiet interval (when no signal is present), a timing synchronization sequence, and a training sequence. The timing synchronization sequence is designed for easy timing recovery at the surface, and the training sequence is designed to aid the adaptation of the equalizer. The data frame itself preferably includes a synchronization field, a data count, and a checksum in addition to the data. Direct digital synthesis is preferably employed to modulate the uplink signal.

  • Patent number: 6348876
Abstract: A downhole telemetry system that transmits a burst-QAM uplink signal to the surface of the well is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the well includes composite tubing having circumferentially-spaced electrical conductors helically wound within the walls of the tubing. A downhole instrument coupled to a pair of adjacent conductors transmits a burst-QAM uplink signal to a surface system similarly coupled to the pair of adjacent conductors.

  • Patent number: 6242334
Abstract: A method for forming a semiconductor with overetched spacer is disclosed. The method includes firstly providing a semiconductor substrate with a gate oxide layer formed thereon, and forming a polysilicon layer on the gate oxide layer. Next, a photoresist layer is formed on the polysilicon layer to define a gate area, followed by anisotropically etching the polysilicon layer and the gate oxide layer. A first dielectric layer is conformably formed, and a second dielectric layer is then formed thereon. After anisotropically etching the second dielectric layer to form a first sidewall spacer on the sidewall of the first dielectric layer, a third dielectric layer is further formed over the exposed first dielectric layer and the first sidewall spacer.
