  • Patent number: 7523815
Abstract: A brake caliper of a disc brake includes a housing with a bore, in which a piston is arranged in an axially displaceable fashion, a shaft for actuation, which is mounted in a rotatable and axially displaceable fashion, two ramp elements being rotatable in relation to each other, a readjusting device with a spindle, and an axial bearing that is active between the shaft and the spindle. A generic brake caliper of a disc brake includes components having a construction to withstand stress so that they are exposed to even, low stress without detrimental tension peaks. A toothing is provided on a circumference of the spindle, and a form-fit accommodation means for the toothing is provided. The accommodation means are unrotatably connected to the housing and secure the spindle against twisting. A calotte arrangement is also provided as an axial bearing, which comprises a calotte shell with a concavely curved surface and a calotte pivot with a convexly curved surface.

  • Patent number: 6244393
Abstract: A disc brake caliper including a brake piston movably arranged therein. The brake piston is sealed in relation to the brake cylinder by a sealing ring, which is arranged in a circumferential annular groove of the brake cylinder. The sealing ring functions to retract the brake piston in the brake cylinder after a braking operation in order to provide a clearance between a brake shoe and a brake disc. According to the present invention, the annular groove includes a recess, which is arranged in the area of transition between a groove wall and the cylinder surface . The contour line, which defines the cross-section of the recess, starting from the groove wall of the annular groove, passes from a convexly curved portion over into a concavely curved portion. This permits ensuring an unchangingly constant clearance between the brake shoe and the brake disc roughly irrespective of the hydraulic pressure.

  • Patent number: 5538103
Abstract: A floating caliper disc brake comprises a stationary brake carrier including two carrier arms protruding beyond the outer rim of a brake disc. Disposed on either side of the brake disc are brake shoes that are displaceably supported on the carrier arms and embraced by a floating caliper guided in an axially displaceable manner on the brake carrier. A spring assembly, acting on the brake shoes in the brake releasing direction after braking, creates the clearance between the brake shoes and the brake disc. The spring assembly is provided with at least one expander spring which is non-displaceably secured to a section of the carrier arm located above the outer rim of the brake disc. The expander spring is provided with at least two spring struts which, in the brake releasing direction, are in resilient abutment with the back plates of the brake shoes and thus insure a uniform distribution of the brake clearance among the brake shoes.

  • Patent number: 5161651
Abstract: A damping bushing for a guide pin of a spot-type disc brake is disclosed, having an elastic pleated cup formed with a first end section fixed to a cylindrical body receiving the guide pin, and also formed with a second end section adapted to be assembled to a ring fixed to the guide pin. The ring has a recess which accepts a torus integral with the second end section. The torus (74) is formed with an outer large radius of curvature portion and an inner smaller radius of curvature portion which creates a cam shape. The larger radius portion allows a pleat of the second end section to force the torus over a cone shaped ring end and into the ring recess. The torus then is retained by the smaller radius portion engaging a corner of the recess.
