Abstract: Methods are provided for the alleviation, prevention and treatment of negative effects of overexposure to metal contaminants. Subjects exposed to a metal contaminant can be treated using trientine and/or penicillamine or salts, esters, solvates thereof. In addition, communities can protect its members by securing sufficient quantities of such countermeasures.

Abstract: A modular workboard thermal printer system provides a user with portable computing and printing capabilities. According to one aspect, the modular workboard thermal printer system includes a housing to which a thermal printer module may be operatively coupled, and a receiving portion formed with the housing for accepting therein a portable computing device that interfaces with the thermal printer module. Further, the modular workboard thermal printer system possesses an input/output panel for electrically connecting external devices with the thermal printer module and/or the portable computing device, as well as a power supply for delivering electrical power to the thermal printer module and optionally to other devices connected with the housing.

Abstract: A hose for filtering metallic particles present in a fluid is provided. The hose includes a tubular core through which the fluid passes that has an inner surface, an outer sheathing, and at least one reinforcement layer provided between the tubular core and the outer sheathing. One or more of, the tubular core, the at least one reinforcement layer, and the outer sheathing, is configured to create a sufficient magnetic field to attract at least a portion of the metallic particles present in the fluid and collect them on the inner surface of the tubular core.

Abstract: A male coupling that is connectable to and separable from a female threaded coupling (e.g., a female threaded port) is provided. The female threaded coupling includes a sealing surface and a receiving portion sized to receive at least a portion of the male coupling, where the receiving portion has internal threads provided therein. The male coupling includes a body having a passageway extending therethrough and a locking member (e.g., ratcheting or non-ratcheting) disposed about the body and configured to move between locking and releasing positions. The locking member has a retaining formation configured to engage the internal threads of the female threaded coupling when the locking member is in its locking position. The male coupling also includes an axially movable sleeve disposed about the body and an annular seal disposed about the sleeve.

Abstract: An HNBR-based toothed rubber belt (10) with a glass, carbon and/or aramid cord reinforcement (5) has a modified tooth covering (6) made of polyamide 6.6 fabric having weft threads (64) entirely or partly replaced in the peripheral/longitudinal direction of the belt by yarns made of polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyimide (PI) and/or meta-aramid (M-A) or modified with PEEK, PI and/or M-A.

Abstract: A coupling assembly having male and female coupling members that are connectable and separable from each other. The coupling assembly utilizes a resiliently expandable locking element, which is provided on the male coupling member, to connect the male and female coupling members together by trapping the locking element, in its expanded position, between respective locking surfaces of the male and female coupling members. A locking sleeve, which is movable between unlocked and locked positions, is employed to move the locking element to its expanded position. In this position, the locking element prevents the withdrawal of the male coupling member from the female coupling member by creating a positive lock therebetween. To maintain the locking sleeve in its locked position, a retainer can be used.

Abstract: The invention relates to an elastomeric product which contains a radical cross-linked rubber mixture, especially drive belts. For the production of elastomeric products, especially drive belts, having a long service life and producible in an environmentally friendly way, the rubber mixture contains (a) 0.1 to 50 phr of at least one carboxylic acid, which is at least ?,? unsaturated and ?,? unsaturated and preferably has at least one allylic hydrogen atom; and, (b) 0.1 to 50 phr of at least one salt-former as co-activator.

Abstract: A cargo transportation device includes a lift assembly for raising and lowering cargo and an operator cabin in which an operator controls the lift assembly. A load backrest is coupled to the cabin, and an automatic data collection device, which is configured to interrogate wireless communication devices, is coupled to the load backrest. The cargo transportation device includes a computing device having logic for controlling the automatic data collection device and logic for controlling the lift assembly, and a display device in communication with the computing device. The display device is coupled to the cabin and configured to provide the operator with information from the computing device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for specifying regions of interest within a two-dimensional view of visual information that comprises a series of frames. Visual changes that occur in the view are stored. A user enters search criteria that specify at least one first region of interest within the view and a visual change. A visual change may include a change in pixel values or a detection of motion of one or more objects within the view. The first search criteria are compared against the stored visual changes to identify a sequence of frames in which the specified visual change occurred within the first region of interest. The search criteria may specify multiple regions of interest, each with one or more types of visual changes. If a motion is specified, then a direction, speed, and behavior of a moving object may also be specified.

Abstract: A cap for a fluid coupling is provided that includes a stem member adapted for insertion into the fluid coupling and a cover member connected to the stem member. The cover member includes an internal cavity sized to receive the fluid coupling such that the fluid coupling is positioned between the stem member and the cover member. The internal cavity is defined by a wall having at least one of a longitudinally extending groove and a longitudinally extending protrusion.

Abstract: A method of displaying video surveillance system information is disclosed. Video clips associated with events are represented by event cards. The event cards include frames selected from the video clips associated with the events. Event cards include metadata, and can be annotated. Display of overlapping event cards causes a compressed event card to be displayed. Selection of a compressed event card dynamically expands the compressed event card to display a paneled event card.

Abstract: I title my invention the “Sport Utility Lounge Chair”. An improved pool lounge chair that allows a person the advantage of being able to lie face down and have a round padded opening in which to put their face. This permits the user to continue such activities as reading, eating, or working from beneath the chair. It also helps to avoid unwanted sunrays from damaging the users face. A tray is provided in my design that can be used to support a laptop computer for example, from beneath the chair. The tray also attaches to the armrests of the chair to provide the same benefits when the user is seated in the up-right position. A removable full-size buoyant pad covers the top of the chair. When removed, it can be used as a floatation device for relaxing in the water.

Abstract: A programmable multiple current source includes a plurality of current source circuits each having current level data storage circuitry. A current level data input terminal and a control input terminal are connected to each current source circuit to supply current level data to the storage circuitry. Peak detector and storage circuitry is coupled to each of the output terminals of the current source circuits. Each associated current source circuit includes a master digital-to-analog converter coupled to the current level data storage circuitry, a driver circuit coupled to the digital-to-analog converter and to the associated current source circuit, comparator and storage circuitry having a first input coupled to the peak detector and storage circuitry and a second input coupled to the driver circuit, and current level adjustment circuitry coupled to the comparator and storage circuitry and the driver circuit.

Abstract: A method of calibrating an adaptive antenna array that applies beamsteering (1) of a satellite navigation system comprises receiving signals from a plurality of satellites at a plurality of receivers (2) within the system. The satellite direction relative to the antenna array orientation for each satellite signal is determined (5); and the received signals are despread (8) to recover satellite signals. Gain and phase information is calculated from the despread code for a given satellite in a given direction; and the calculated gain and phase information are stored in a manifold store (4) at a predetermined address related to the direction of arrival of the satellite signal.

Abstract: A distributor, for use in a refrigerant system for conveying refrigerant between an expansion device and an evaporator, having a longitudinal body, an actuator, a plug, a first nozzle, and a second nozzle. The longitudinal body having a first end, a second end, a longitudinal passage between the first and second ends. The first nozzle being affixed within the passage. The second nozzle being rotatable within the passage for alignment and misalignment with the first nozzle. The second nozzle having a plurality of gear teeth engageable with the actuator, which is adjustable. A method of mixing refrigerant fluid while passing through the distributor.

Abstract: A system and method for locating objects such as people, pets, and personal articles is described. A transceiver is attached to the person, animal, or item to be tracked and a handheld locator device is employed to transmit a locator signal containing an address code to the transceiver. Upon receipt of a signal, the transceiver compares the address code contained in the locator signal with an address code stored in the transceiver. If the two codes are same, the transceiver sends a return signal back to the locator device. The locator device uses this return signal to determine the distance and/or direction of the transceiver from the user's location. The system allows a user to select from a multiple number of items to locate and allows multiple users to search for different articles within the same general area without interference.

Abstract: This invention relates to peroxyketals derived from cyclic &bgr;-keto esters and use of the same in the curing of resins, such as unsaturated polyester resins. The new peroxyketals were synthesized via an acid catalyzed reaction of cyclic &bgr;-keto esters with aliphatic hydroperoxides.

Abstract: A system for improving wound treatment data management has been developed. The system evaluates relevant wound and patient characteristics to generate a proposed treatment routine. The system also evaluates the ongoing treatment of the wound and may generate alarm output, suggestions to health care providers, or proposed modifications to the treatment routine. In addition, the invention may also generated automated orders for such items as consumable treatment components. The system may also be used to evaluate financial considerations and implications of both initial and modified treatment routines.
