  • Patent number: 4616989
Abstract: An improved process for incorporating glass fibers into a thermoplastic synthetic resin wherein the glass fibers are continuously mixed with a molten thermoplastic synthetic resin and the resulting mixture is shaped into a desired article, involves preheating the glass fibers to a temperature not more than the melting point of the synthetic resin, feeding the preheated glass fibers and the molten synthetic resin separately to a premixing chamber, intermixing the resin and fibers within the chamber and thereafter introducing the resultant premix continously and directly into a two-stage degasifying screw-type extruder for effecting further homogenization of the premix and for extruding the desired article. The two-stage degasifying screw-type extruder used for carrying out this process is provided with a screw having a constant screw pitch in the two stages and in each stage with a low pressure zone and a high pressure zone in succession.

  • Patent number: 4101689
Abstract: An antistatic and/or electrically conductive floor covering which comprises a sheet of a thermoplastic synthetic resin which is substantially electrically non-conductive, said sheet having a plurality of holes penetrating therethrough and electrically conductive material filling said holes with one side of the sheet being coated with said conductive material so that the materials in each of said holes are connected to one another.

  • Patent number: 4042314
Abstract: An apparatus for the continuous manufacture of phenolic resin foam in an endless sheet which includes mixing means for expandable liquid phenolic resin with a blowing agent and an acid-containing curing agent, optionally with the addition of additives, and means for processing the mixture in a temperature-controllable double belt press. The apparatus also comprises a device for cooling the phenolic resin to a temperature of from about 8.degree. to about 15.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 3937777
Abstract: A process and apparatus for continuous production of molded sheets of a foamed thermoplastic synthetic resin, wherein a synthetic resin is fed into a screw extruder and a low boiling point liquid expanding agent is introduced under high pressure into the extruder and admixed with the resin in the extruder and thereafter the resulting admixture is extruded in the form of a plurality of foam filaments to insure proper distribution of the admixture to the nozzles of the extruder. A gear pump is provided for each nozzle. Also, to avoid collapsing of the foam means are provided for tempering the foam filaments by the application of heat.
