Patent number: 9110921Abstract: A semi-automatic map editor may allow a user to add features to a map with a minimum of effort. In one example, a user may add a road to a map by indicating where the endpoints of the road are. A system may then attempt to fill in the path of the road using the user-provided endpoints, an analysis of an aerial or satellite photograph, existing maps that show the road, or any other appropriate information. Using this information, the system may display a proposed path for the road between the endpoints that the user has indicated. The user may then fine tune and/or confirm the proposed path, thereby adding the road to the map. In addition to roads, other feature such as bodies of water, ski trails, etc., may be added in this manner.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2011Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Ido Omer, Eyal Ofek, John-Michael Wiley, Gonzalo Ramos

Patent number: 8553553Abstract: System, method and program product, the system comprising: return network element along a return path for network flows for network sessions for a client; a controller computer; network elements along a forward path for the network flow for network sessions; with the return network element, configured to: receive packets for a return path network flow; determine whether there is an existing ruleset entry for quality-of-service marking packet data combination; sending the packet to the controller computer when the return network element deter mines no existing ruleset entry for the quality-of-service marking packet data combination. The return network element and/or controller computer configured to determine if the source network node is trusted. The controller computer configured to identify one or more network elements in a forward path, and initiate installation of a ruleset entry for the client along the forward path.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2012Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Edward Thomas Lingham Hardie, Michael Wiley

Publication number: 20090133399Abstract: A turbocharger system for use with an engine having a braking mode of operation is disclosed. The turbocharger system may have a turbocharger with variable geometry, and a sensor situated to generate a signal indicative of a turbocharger speed. The turbocharger system may also have a controller in communication with the turbocharger and the sensor. The controller may be configured to vary the geometry of the turbocharger during the engine's braking mode of operation to increase a backpressure of the engine. The controller may also be configured to vary the geometry of the turbocharger to reduce the backpressure when the signal indicates a speed of the turbocharger within an amount of a desired speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2007Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventors: Joshua David Keyes, Jennifer Lynn Wilson, James Harris Mutti, Stephen Michael Wiley
