  • Patent number: 8190476
Abstract: A software based system and method of displaying location based information from an information site on a network by determining location data of a user of the location based information on the network. • Patent number: 8184811
Abstract: In a digital content management system, a mobile device determines whether it is authorized to use digital content by sending, to a service provider, a hash value that has been pre-stored in the mobile device and that is associated with the digital content. The hash value is generated by combining a user identifier, among other data, into a combined hash. The other data included in the combined hash may be, for example, a service provider key unknown to the user, and a hash of the protected content. A telecommunications service provider, such as a service provider of a CDMA wireless network, determines whether the hash value is valid and, accordingly, whether the mobile device is authorized to use the digital content.

  • Publication number: 20120118535
Abstract: An improved chilled beam refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems uses a first chilled air flow to induce a second chilled air flow. Ambient air is drawn through first coils to produce a primary cooled air flow into an intake plenum on the suction side of a fan. The primary cooled air is drawn from the intake plenum, through the fan, and is exhausted into a discharge plenum at a positive pressure. Discharge nozzles along discharge face(s) of the discharge plenum direct the primary cooled air outward inducing a negative pressure in an area behind (or above) second coils. The negative pressure induces additional ambient air to be drawn through the second coils and cooled to provide additional cooled air. The additional cooled air mixes with the primary cooled air providing a larger refrigeration and/or air conditioning effect which would otherwise require additional motorized fans.

  • Publication number: 20120119110
Abstract: An apparatus, and an associated method, for a portable electronic device, such as a wireless device, to determine luminescence of an object of interest. Ultraviolet A (UVA), or other appropriate, light energy is cause to be generated at a flicker rate. Images of the object of interest are recorded both when the UVA light energy is incident on the object of interest and in the absence of incidence of the UVA light energy on the object of interest. The images are compared, and a determination is made of the luminescence of the object of interest.

  • Patent number: 8175700
Abstract: One or more inductors and one or more capacitors are physically disposed relative to one another in series and are electrically connected to one another in parallel to form a bandstop filter. Chip inductors and chip capacitors having spaced apart conductive terminals are physically arranged in end-to-end abutting relation to minimize electrical potential between adjacent conductive terminals. The bandstop filter may be hermetically sealed within a biocompatible container for use with an implantable lead or electrode of a medical device. The values of the inductors and the capacitors are selected such that the bandstop filter is resonant at one or more selected frequencies, such as an MRI pulsed frequency.

  • Publication number: 20120090253
Abstract: A multiple panel glazing unit including at least two glass spacer bars (2) of toughened glass each having, optionally, opposite sides that are chamfered towards a common end surface (8) and which are sealed to the glass panels (22, 24) of multiple panel glazing unit by a transparent or translucent sealant (38). The use of toughened glass spacers allows the manufacture of multiple panel glazing units to meet given operating requirements, e.g. the ability to withstand externally applied forces such as varying differential air pressure of a given magnitude across the unit, with a smaller inter-glazing panel spacing than if glass spacers that are not toughened are used.

Abstract: A method and apparatus managing processing resources in a portable electronic device are provided. An area of the display device is controlled to provide a banner region comprising device state data, the area of the display device enabled to receive focus using an input device. While focus is in the banner region, first input data is receiving, and the display device is responsively controlled to provide in the banner region an indication of the first application, replacing the device state data. Further input data is received while the indication of the first application is provided in the banner region. In response and, in response, at least one of the following occurs: the first application is brought to the foreground by controlling the display device to provide a representation of the first application; and the first application is closed such that resources used by the processing unit are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20120073303
Abstract: A process of producing a metallic component having a desired shape that includes at least one nonuniform section, as well as metallic components produced by such a process. The process uses a composition containing a mixture of a polymeric binder and a metal powder that includes particles of an alloy having a reactive element that renders the alloy uncastable. The composition is metal injection molded to yield a green compact having a shape corresponding to the shape of the metallic component, including its at least one nonuniform section. A majority of the binder is then removed from the green compact, and then the green compact is sintered to remove a remainder of the binder and fuse particles of the metal powder together to form the metallic component and the nonuniform section thereof.
