Publication number: 20100144311Abstract: A system and method of selecting a network operator by a roaming subscriber in a shared network. The method begins by a roaming subscriber, UE, entering the shared network. A query is provided to the UE of a selection of at least two network operators operating within the shared network. The subscriber then selects a desired network operator for use in the shared network. The selection is sent and stored in a VLR in the shared network. A call is initiated by the UE in the shared network and routed in accordance with the selected network operator. Preferably, the UE sends a USSD string providing the desired network operator to the VLR. The USSD string triggers a USSD application for using the selected network operator.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2008Publication date: June 10, 2010Inventors: Marten Pehrson, Michael Winkler, Jiri Rynt

Publication number: 20080092518Abstract: A variable area flow duct and method. In one embodiment the flow duct includes a plurality of helical vanes arranged around an interior surface wall of the flow duct. The vanes cause secondary flow vortices to be developed in the vicinity of each of the vanes that effectively reduce the interior cross-sectional area of the duct that a primary flow sees as it flows through the duct. In various embodiments fluidic injection is employed to suppress the formation of the secondary flow vortices during certain phases of operation, for example, during an afterburn phase of operation of a jet aircraft engine which the flow duct is being used with. In another embodiment, an ablative coating is used over the vanes to suppress the formation of the secondary flow vortices. The ablative material is removed by the hot fluid flow during an afterburn phase of operation, thus exposing the vanes and enabling the subsequent formation of secondary flow vortices to narrow the cross-sectional area of the throat.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 20, 2006Publication date: April 24, 2008Inventors: Chad Michael Winkler, Matthew J. Publication number: 20050115663Abstract: A method for producing tapes in pairs for the manufacture of closing tapes for baby diapers. The tapes are formed mirror-symmetrically and secured on the baby diapers in pairs. The method comprises the following steps: a web of material is separated in four strips, whereby two strips are processed as plane support tapes. The two other strips are guided via reversing stations over the support tapes and folded to form release tapes that each comprise a short leg and a long leg. Closing tapes that comprise male or female closing elements for a mechanical self-closure, are laminated to the support tapes in the direction of transport of these support tapes. The release tapes are applied to the support tapes in the direction of transport, whereby the short leg is glued to the support tape, and the long leg at least partly covers the closing tape that has been applied to the support tape. There is also a device for producing the tapes using the method described above.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2003Publication date: June 2, 2005Inventor: Michael Winkler

Patent number: 6429369Abstract: The invention relates to a thin-film solar cell on the basis of IB-IIIA-VIA compound semiconductors and a method for producing such a solar cell. Between the polycrystalline IB-IIIA-VIA absorber layer of the p-type conductivity and the carrier film serving as a substrate, a back electrode of intermetallic phases of the same IB- and IIIA-metals are located which are deposited for the generation of the absorber layer. The absorber layer and the back electrode are produced in such a way that the precursor consisting of IB-IIIA-metals is vertically only incompletely converted into the photovoltaicly active absorber material from the side opposite to the carrier film by reaction with chalcogen such that intermetallic phases of the IB- and IIIA-metals are directly located on the carrier film, which metals serve as back electrode of the solar cell structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2000Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: IST-Institut fur Solartechnologies GmbHInventors: Olaf Tober, Jürgen Penndorf, Michael Winkler, Klaus Jacobs, Thomas Koschack
