  • Publication number: 20130079482
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing nanoparticles comprising at least one polymer and/or copolymer by providing an aerosol comprising droplets of at least one monomer and at least one photoinitiator in a gas stream, irradiating this aerosol stream with light such that the monomers present polymerize, and removing the nanoparticles formed from the gas stream, to nanoparticles producible by this process and to the use of these inventive nanoparticles in optical, electronic, chemical or biotechnological systems, or for active ingredient administration.

  • Patent number: 5386751
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for forming and gripping a beginning of a web of a replacement roll. At least one suction ledge is placed on an outer layer of the roll in a position in which the suction ledge extends parallel to the axis of the roll. The outer layer is raised by the suction ledge so that the outer layer is tensioned. The tensioned outer layer is cut parallel to and on the waste paper side of the suction ledge. Finally, the web beginning is lifted off by the suction ledge.

  • Patent number: 5322230
Abstract: To automate the preparation of a replacement paper roll for flying roll changing, initial layer portions of web material from the replacement paper roll and which, typically, are damaged, are rolled on a scrap roll (2) to form scrap material windings thereon. In a first moving step, the scrap roll (2) is placed in engagement with the replacement paper roll to wind scrap material thereon. When a sensing element (22) senses that the paper is suitable for printing, the scrap roll is moved away from the replacement roll (1) and into a preparation or processing position (FIG. 11). At that processing position, two spaced axially extending perforation or tear lines (4, 5) are formed in the beginning portion. In a third moving step, the beginning portion is placed in engagement with the paper roll by moving the scrap roll back towards the replacement roll and, preferably, adhered thereto temporarily by a holding adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5029742
Abstract: To prevent tooth-to-tooth engagement of an interengaging gear-worm pull-in arrangement for a paper web threading system for a printing machine, a transport sprocket wheel (10) is retained in a movable bearing (16), movable along an angle (.alpha.) which is an acute angle with respect to the axis of the pull-in element (1,2), and engaged with the pull-in element by a force acting counter the direction of movement of the pull-in element. The transport wheel center is, when engageable with the pull-in element, located along a bisector (19) of an angle (.beta.), which angle (.beta.) is defined by a tangent (17a) at a first contact point (17) between the transport wheel (10, 10b) and the drive wheel (12, 12b) and a second tangent line at a second contact point (18) between the pitch circle of the transport wheel (10, 10b) and the pull-in element. The bearing of the transport wheel can shift linearly, or along a small arc, the force being generated by the weight of the wheel or by a spring.

  • Patent number: 4757702
Abstract: The guide tube (16) is formed with a longitudinal slit which can be bent about a bending drum (6) of standard construction. In order to additionally introduce a longitudinal or spiral twist, a twisting element can be clamped about the tube, to introduce a twist, manually (FIGS. 1, 2), or upon rotating of the bending drum or disk (FIGS. 7, 8) by a coupled gearing. To retain the slit of the tube in proper dimension and alignment, and prevent deformation of the tube, a counter element with a groove (5) therein matched to the circumference of the tube is provided, and an insert strip (18) is located within the tube, which insert strip preferably has externally projecting portions (18a) for guidance of the strip between the counter element and the bending tube or disk, and a recessed portion (18b) extending within the slit (17) to prevent deformation of the tube and of the slit during twisting and/or bending of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4213390
Abstract: An elongated carrier or holder 11, in the form of an elongated, hollow channel profile, is screwed to the frame 2 of the printing machine. The carrier 11 is formed with a long slot 15 through which clamping bolts 17, 18, attached to clamping plates 16 internally of the channel 11, can pass. The clamping bolts clamp individual supports 19 to the channel, adjustable longitudinally of the machine and up and down since the slot is wider than the side of the bolts, the supports each carrying a synchronous motor 27, and a gear train 26, 24 meshing with gear 23 attached to the adjustment screws 7. A stop 28 prevents excessive travel. The connecting cable for the motors is located within the channel.
