The plug includes a mandrel having a throughout bore that extends from a top end to a bottom end; a connecting mechanism located at the top end of the mandrel; a sealing element located around the mandrel and configured to be pushed toward an internal wall of the casing; an upper wedge configured to push the sealing element against the casing; and a slip ring configured to push the sealing element over the upper wedge and also to engage the inner wall of the casing with buttons for preventing the plug to slide along the casing.

Abstract: A sub connects a gun string to a hydraulically activated setting tool for setting an auxiliary tool in a well. The sub includes a housing that prevents a well fluid from entering inside the housing; a plug that covers a hole made in a wall of the housing; and an explosive mechanism located inside the housing and configured to break the plug to open the hole to achieve fluid communication between an outside and the inside of the sub.
