Abstract: The invention provides an improved record making system, the system having a puck former having an outlet, the puck former being movable between an automatic position and a semi-automatic position and adapted to periodically produce a puck and to deliver the puck to the outlet. The system further has a record former having a puck receiver, the record former adapted, upon delivery of the puck to the puck receiver, to automatically produce a record. The record former is positioned relative to the puck former and adapted such that, when the puck former is in the automatic position, the outlet of the puck former is coterminous with the puck receiver of the record former. When the puck former is in the semi-automatic position, the puck receiver is accessible by an operator to permit manual puck feeding.

Abstract: An MRI-compatible system for supporting a patient during a medical procedure includes a frame, first and second platforms, a cooling device support, a therapeutic-applicator-positioning-system support, and a pair of leg rests. The first platform is configured to support the patient. The second platform is disposed between the foot end of the frame and the first platform. The cooling device support and the therapeutic-applicator-positioning-system support are mounted on the second platform. The cooling device support positions and releasably secures a cooling device. The therapeutic-applicator-positioning-system support releasably secures a therapeutic applicator positioning system. Each leg rest includes a leg support and a foot support. The leg rests are disposed on the frame and are configured to be slidably positioned towards the head end or towards the foot end of the frame.

The improvement comprises the use of pressurized water as the relatively hot fluid.

Abstract: An apparatus for temperature controlling an endocavity such as the rectum during thermal therapy of nearby tissues is disclosed. In some aspects the apparatus is mechanically configured to best conform to the patient. In other aspects the apparatus is designed to eliminate gas bubbles from forming or accumulating in certain volumes that would interfere with the thermal therapy. In other aspects the apparatus is optimized for use in cooling the rectum during ultrasound thermal therapy of the prostate.
