  • Patent number: 9080064
Abstract: Disclosed are quaternary ammonium salts containing non-halogen anions (e.g., quaternary ammonium carbonates, bicarbonates, and mixtures thereof) as anti-corrosive agents. The invention relates to a method for inhibiting the corrosion of metal surfaces by applying a composition containing one or more quaternary ammonium carbonate or bicarbonate. The disclosure is also directed to anti-corrosive coatings for metal substrates containing these compounds, to metal substrates having these anticorrosive coatings, and to aqueous cleaning solutions containing these compounds.

  • Patent number: 6583181
Abstract: The present inventors have discovered that electrolytes, such as the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), reduce the ocular irritation and increase the disinfecting and sanitizing efficacy of compositions containing quaternary ammonium compounds and/or amines. As a result, concentrated solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds and/or amines of the present invention have low, if any, ocular irritation. Furthermore, use dilutions of the concentrated solutions of the present invention include ingredients which are approved by the U.S. EPA for use on indirect food contact surfaces, unlike disinfecting and sanitizing compositions containing imidazoline compounds. Additionally, the use dilutions exhibit superior efficacy against gram negative and positive bacteria compared to similar compositions which do not contain the electrolyte and remain effective in hard water. The present invention is a concentrate, such as a sanitizing and disinfecting concentrate, comprising from about 0.

  • Publication number: 20030008791
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a sanitizing composition including (a) a sanitizing effective amount of an antimicrobial agent, (b) a water-soluble silicone, (c) a humectant selected from the group consisting of hydrogenated starch hydrolysates, glycerin, and mixtures thereof, and (d) water. This sanitizing composition is preferably substantially free of alcohol and more preferably contains less than about 0.5 or 1% by weight of alcohol, based upon 100% by weight of total composition. The hand sanitizer of the present invention is non-flammable, disinfects and/or sanitizes surfaces rapidly, and quickly dries after application. Another embodiment is a method of disinfecting and/or sanitizing a surface which comprises applying the aforementioned hand sanitizer composition to the surface. In particular, the hand sanitizer composition may be topically applied to hands, face and other surfaces of the body to disinfect and sanitize the same.

  • Patent number: 6117831
Abstract: The subject invention relates to a novel class of compounds, known as alkali metal salts of hydroxyalkyl sulfonates of aminoalkyl alkanol amines and/or aminoalkyl alkanol ethers, the methods of making such compounds, the alkali-stable solutions containing such compounds, and the use of said solutions as strong detergent compositions. Those alkali-stable solutions are temperature-stable, exhibit superior wetting characteristics, and can be made into low or high foam formulations useful for hard surface cleaning, oven and grill cleaning, metal cleaning, bottle washing, steam cleaning and wax stripping formulations.

  • Patent number: 5981461
Abstract: The present invention relates to cleaning compositions containing one or more halogen bleaching agents and a sulfosuccinate salt. It has been unexpectedly found in accordance with the present invention that the addition of a sulfosuccinate salt to a halogen bleaching agent significantly enhances the cleaning capacity of the halogen bleaching agent compared to the cleaning capacity of either compound alone. The present invention further relates to a method of treating a contaminated surface by washing the contaminated surface with a cleaning composition containing one or more halogen bleaching agents and sulfosuccinate salts. A method of removing soil or oily substances from a substrate by treating the substrate with a cleaning composition containing one or more halogen bleaching agents and sulfosuccinate salts is also provided by this invention.
