Publication number: 20080294296Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for controlling the temperature of an internal device while reducing or minimizing the involvement of the host. Thus, some of the heat monitoring and remediation work may be offloaded to the actual device itself. The device may monitor its own temperature and, in the event of high temperature, perform device specific heat reduction actions without involving the host. Furthermore, the device may, upon detecting temperature within a predefined range, alert the host of a high temperature condition in order to allow the host to perform temperature reduction measures. Also, the device may, upon detecting temperature within a predefined range, alert the host of an impending device shutdown and shut the device down. In addition, the device may periodically save its temperature into non-volatile memory in order to create a temperature log.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2007Publication date: November 27, 2008Applicant: Emulex Design & Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Michael Yu Liu, Bradley Eugene Roach, Vuong Cao Nguyen, Peter Mark Fiacco, Shak Loong Kwok

Publication number: 20070226064Abstract: A dynamic pricing system and method that enables prices for sellable objects to be dynamically adjusted using pricing factors corresponding to attributes of the sellable objects. Product administrators are enabled to define sellable products and extended attributes for the products, while pricing administrators are enabled to define price lists for the sellable products and extended attributes. Sales representatives build sellable objects, such as quotes, orders, shopping carts, etc, by adding products that customers would like to purchase to the sellable object. Additionally, extended attributes may be selected for all or a portion of the products. Using Static Pricing, an initial or static price is determined for the sellable objects. The static price may then be dynamically adjusted prior to or at the point of a sales transaction or offer using pricing factors corresponding to combinations of various attributes of the sellable object and/or products from which it is built.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2002Publication date: September 27, 2007Inventors: Jai-Jein Yu, Catheryne Nicholson, Michael Yu, Yan Tan, Do Ra, Michael Hao Li, Karen Hsu, Piyush Govil

Patent number: 6882312Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for multipath mitigation using an antenna array. An antenna array made up of a plurality of antennas is used to receive satellite signals from satellites. Various configurations of antenna arrays is disclosed, including a linear vertical antenna array and a horizontal antenna array in which the antenna elements are located in a horizontal plane. A switch sequentially connects each of the antenna outputs to a single processing path to generate a common additive signal. The common additive signal is provided to satellite channel processors, each of which processes the signals from an associated satellite. A phase shift correction signal associated with each of the antennas is generated and synchronously applied to a carrier phase reference signal. A blocking signal may be applied to the satellite channel processors in order to block the processing of signals from an unwanted satellite.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2004Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Topcon GPS, LLCInventors: Michael Yu. Patent number: 6599132Abstract: Currently semiconductor processing and device manufacturing relies heavily on continued scaling of critical dimensions for cost reduction and performance enhancement. In order to continue this scaling below 0.1 micron with acceptable manufacturing yields, reliable measurement of electrical charge distribution and the placement of dopants is essential, yet no conventional technique exists to obtain distortion-free cross-sectional images. An aspect of the invention relates to a technique for forming a precisely-located, substantially atomically smooth cross-section of a crystalline sample suitable for Scanning Capacitance Microscopy analysis. Another aspect of the invention provides a method for deconvolving Scanning Capacitance raw data into an accurate representation of electrical carrier distributions suitable for the higher resolution attainable with the new sample preparation technique.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1999Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Eric Anthony Perozziello, Guanyuan Michael Yu
