  • Patent number: 11311365
Abstract: A catheter for prevention of stroke by diverting and filtering the blood flow to carotid and vertebral arteries is provided. The catheter includes at least one balloon with an outer mesh cover that expands upon the balloon inflation and collapses upon balloon deflation. Partial inflation of balloons provides for full mesh expansion in the target vessel with resulting capturing and retrieval of embolic particles. The inflation of the balloon in the aortic arch or head vessels expands the balloon associated filtering mesh leading to both filtering and deflection of embolic particles from the cerebral circulation, while balloon deflation triggers the mesh collapse and promotes its recapturing and retrieval while minimizing the risk of spillage of captured emboli.

  • Patent number: 11103416
Abstract: A device for the prevention of stroke is provided that has a processor, a compression system, a compression member, and a vascular probe carried by the compression member. The vascular probe senses a parameter of a circulation system from a closed neck artery that is not being externally accessed. The processor processes the closed parameter and based upon this processing communicates with the compression system to instruct the compression system to actuate the compression member. The compression member and vascular probe are external to the interior of the patient when the vascular probe senses the closed parameter of the circulation system.

  • Patent number: 11013515
Abstract: An occluding catheter for preventing stroke by occluding blood flow to right and left carotid arteries is provided. The occluding catheter includes a shaft that has a proximal end and a distal end, and a proximal occluding balloon carried by the shaft. The proximal occluding balloon is inflated to occlude blood flow through one of the right carotid artery and the left carotid artery. A distal occluding balloon is carried by the shaft and is inflated to occlude blood flow through one of the right carotid artery and the left carotid artery that is not occluded by the proximal occluding balloon. The shaft has a segment that is located between the proximal occluding balloon and the distal occluding balloon. Also provided are alternative arrangements with a single or dual inflation and/or guidewire channel, single occluding balloon, and an associated method of diverting emboli from cerebral circulation.

  • Patent number: 10765841
Abstract: A system for use in prevention of stroke is provided that has a shaft that carries an occluding balloon. The occluding balloon is inflated to occlude blood flow through at least one of a right carotid artery and a left carotid artery. An actuation device for causing inflation of the occluding balloon is present. The inflation is applied in a cyclical nature based upon a cardiac cycle. The cyclical inflation of the occluding balloon in turn causes a resulting cyclical occlusion.

  • Patent number: 10667825
Abstract: A system for diverting emboli within a patient can include a device that detects a presence of emboli in a first blood vessel of a patient. A compression member can be aligned, with a second blood vessel of the patient when a collar supporting the compression member is positioned at, least partially around a portion of the patient. In response to, the detection device, a controller can actuate the compression member, when the presence of emboli is detected, from an unactuated state to an actuated state in which at least a portion of the compression member (i) is closer to the second blood vessel than while in the unactuated state and (ii) compresses and limits blood flow through the second blood vessel.

  • Patent number: 10537308
Abstract: A catheter for prevention of stroke by diverting and filtering the blood flow to carotid and vertebral arteries is provided. The catheter includes at least one balloon with an outer mesh cover that expands upon the balloon inflation and stays expanded after the balloon is deflated. The inflation of the balloon in the aortic arch or head vessels provides the deflection of embolic particles from the cerebral circulation and expands the outer mesh that provides for filtering and deflection of cerebral emboli after the balloon is deflated. An associated method of prevention of cerebral emboli and embolic stroke is provided.
