  • Patent number: 12653214
Abstract: Provided herein are methods of making a comestible cell-based meat composition where the method includes cooling the cell mass from a growth temperature to a temperature below a growth temperature; harvesting at least a portion of the cell mass; de-wetting the harvested cell mass with mechanically-generated pressure; forming the cell-based meat composition into a fillet; and optionally processing the fillet under high pressure, until the comestible cell-based meat composition satisfies a texture profile criteria.

  • Publication number: 20240400979
Abstract: This disclosure describes methods for growing cells on chickpea microcarriers as part of a process of creating a comestible food product. Generally, the disclosed method comprises adding chickpea microcarriers to cell culture media in a vessel. The chickpea microcarriers are mixed with non-human cells in the cell culture media. The chickpea microcarriers and non-human cells are mixed to adhere and grow the non-human cells on the surface of the chickpea microcarriers. After mixing, the non-human cells adhered to the surface of the chickpea microcarriers forms a textured cell tissue. The textured cell tissue can be harvested from the vessel and formed into a comestible food product.

  • Patent number: 12005213
Abstract: Systems and methods for decontaminating a surgical drain and its reservoir are provided. An apparatus is provided in the form of a container having an interior chamber and an expansible opening to the interior chamber for insertion of a surgical drain therethrough. Ultraviolet light emitters are disposed within the interior chamber to emit beams of ultraviolet radiation at the surgical drain and/or its reservoir, thereby killing or neutralizing bacteria and fungus on the drain. Walls forming the expansible opening are collapsible to abut a portion of the inserted drain when inserted into the apparatus, and a fluid tight seal is formed between the drain and the apparatus.
