  • Publication number: 20230176079
Abstract: Platforms for enzymatic assays for biomarkers, including systems, methods, and measuring devices by which a biomarker, such as creatinine, is measured using a small amount of biological fluid, such as blood, plasma, or serum. The measuring device or biosensor can be a test strip including a layered active component assembly positioned between two outer layers which enables multi-step enzymatic reactions operating in kinetic and/or endpoint (in which the reaction is allowed to near completion), and generally includes multiple layers with primary enzyme(s), coupling enzyme(s), and reagents to produce an optical signal correlated to the concentration of a biomarker in the sample. The test strip can be read using a portable optical reader coupled to a smart phone or tablet.

  • Publication number: 20190232287
Abstract: A biomedical measuring device, such as a test strip, has a simple structure, by which analyte can be measured easily using a small amount of specimen. In embodiments, the test strip generally includes a plastic first film layer having structure defining an aperture for retaining the reacting components, a porous membrane coupled to an inner-facing surface of the first film layer and configured to reduce background signal, an absorbent pad coupled to the porous membrane and first film layer to sandwich the porous membrane therebetween, the absorbent pad being configured for rapid absorption, and a plastic second film layer coupled to the absorbent pad, the second film layer being configured to provide a barrier to prevent liquid from leaking out of the test strip during use. The test strip can be easily used with an optical sensing device coupled to or containing an analyzer device (or reader device) for quickly detecting and measuring the analyte concentration.

  • Publication number: 20190187154
Abstract: Systems and methods directed to a monoclonal antibody covalently conjugated to latex in a two-step process to be used with a test strip and mobile-phone connected fluorimeter device. The test strip is combined with a method of analysis for quantitative detection of NT pro-BNP using the mobile device. A method for NT-proBNP testing system includes reading the test at an initial time point and at specific intervals during development of the test result, the dynamic behavior of the test can be used to distinguish differences between samples that would otherwise be difficult to differentiate by an end-point measurement due to the hook effect. Using two fluorescent tags with different excitation wavelength or emission wavelengths, or two colored beads with different absorption wavelengths, the test and the control line can simultaneously be read as they develop and dynamic formation can be used to distinguish high levels.

  • Patent number: 9241663
Abstract: A system and method for analysis of colorimetric test strip strips and disease management. The system can include an accessory that is operably coupled to a mobile device, the mobile device acquiring and/or analyzing images of the colorimetric test strips. The light box accessory can be detachably attached to the mobile device, or made to remain attached to the mobile device, but with the capability of having the light box accessory removed from the field of view of the camera for general photography purposes. In other embodiments, an image containing known calibration color(s) and reagent area(s) is obtained sans the light box for comparison with a previous calibration image to model changes in ambient lighting conditions and determine a color correction function. The correction can be applied to the detected reagent area color(s) for matching between the detected reagent area color(s) and reference color(s) on the reference chart.
