Abstract: A method comprising using at least one hardware processor for constructing an index of corpora of multiple users, wherein each corpus of said corpora is associated with a single user of said multiple users, analyzing an electronic message addressed at least to one of said multiple users, to identify an expression which, based on the index, is likely to be unfamiliar or ambiguous to said one of the multiple users, and marking the expression in the electronic message.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for message notification in instant messaging are provided in which a message in an instant messaging session is received at a client application. The content of the received message is compared with a set of entries and the content is matched with an entry. Notification of a new message is displayed in a form representing the matched entry. Each entry may be associated with a category and the step of displaying notification represents the category of the matched entry. The entries may be any one of or a combination of words, phrases and/or symbols which commonly appear in messages such that a user can determine the category of a message content without focusing on the message.

Abstract: Techniques for changing a conversation topic between one or more users via a user-interface are provided. A request to change the conversation topic is obtained from the one or more users via the user-interface. An indicator is presented to the one or more users notifying the one or more users, via the user-interface, of the request to change the conversation topic. The conversation topic between the one or more users is changed in response to an affirmative act by at least one of a moderator, the one or more users, and a predefined condition.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for gap filling in a social network are provided. The method includes providing details of one or more current online users in a game in which users are scored for their input. A person is selected from candidates for whom additional information is required in a social network, including: weighting candidates who have a strong relationship with a current online user in the game; and weighting candidates for whom there is little existing data in the social network. The method includes identifying the selected person to a current online user; receiving information input by a current online user relating to the selected person; and scoring the information input by a current online user.

The shared feed reader may also include a mechanism for receiving a meta-feed of meta-posts, wherein meta-feeds and meta-posts relate to activities of users in the group on shared feeds and posts.

The method includes capturing a social environment at a given time including capturing a set of identities in a predefined proximity to a monitored identity at the given time, wherein an identity is an identity of a real person or a virtual identity, and recording parameters of the social environment. The method then combines the captured social environments in a time range for a monitored identity and analyses the combined captured social environments in the time range to provide a social network for the monitored identity including weightings of the relationships between the monitored identity and the captured identities. The monitored identity and the captured identities may be avatars and the predefined proximity may be a proximity to a virtual location.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for browsing the elements in a display. The method includes displaying a first set of elements in a first browse line with the first set of elements ordered in a total or partial order in the first browse line. An input of a selection of an element from the first set of elements is received and the method includes displaying a subsequent set of elements with an association with the selected element. The association of the subsequent set of elements may have no order between the elements, a partial order, or a total order. The elements have content and metadata for determining if they belong to one or more of the sets of elements. An element from the subsequent set of elements can be selected to display a further subsequent set of elements. In this way, browsing can be achieved through groups of associated elements.

The method also includes displaying the propagation history. Preferably, processing the data set includes analyzing transmission information embedded in text of the e-mail.

The method includes searching a collector-database for one or more communication instances corresponding to the plurality of participants in one or more collaborative systems. The collector-database stores information corresponding to each communication instance for one or more collaborative systems. Thereafter, one or more communication instances are collated corresponding to one or more collaborative systems to form collated communication instances. The collated communication instances are collated for the plurality of participants. The method further includes, presenting the collated communication instances corresponding to one or more collaborative system as the communication history for the plurality of participants.

Abstract: Chat conversations are managed in a networked chat communications system, in which facilities are provided for reordering a stream of chat messages. Options are provided to emphasize messages of importance by visual and audio effects, and to de-emphasize messages of lesser importance. Changes in a window display may be propagated to and reflected in display windows of other chat participants.
