  • Patent number: 12162595
Abstract: This disclosure describes a tension torsion strap for part of rotor head of a rotary wing aircraft. The tension torsion strap includes, in a direction of a longitudinal axis, a first peripheral area with a connection eye, a central section, and a second peripheral area with a connection eye. The tension torsion strap may be of one-piece made of a multiplicity of joined layers. Improved production and installation is of the tension torsion strap may be achieved by that disclosed in this disclosure, resulting in, among other advantages, more simplified maintenance because the tension torsion strap has an overall asymmetric shape relatively to a transverse axis due to two unequally shaped peripheral areas which cannot be brought into alignment when folding around the transverse axis.

  • Patent number: 12157563
Abstract: A detachable connection between a pitch control unit arm and a pitch horn of a blade holder in a tail rotor head of a tail rotor of a rotary wing aircraft includes a pin connecting the pitch horn, attached to a blade holder, with the pitch control unit arm of a pitch control unit, by protruding through an arm through hole and at another edge through a pitch horn through hole. By this arrangement, material wear is reduced and maintenance intervals can be reduced. This is reached because the pin is designed as a sliding pin projecting between pitch horn and pitch control unit arm, which is running in the course of its length through a spherical bearing in form of a ball with a central ball through hole.

  • Publication number: 20230348052
Abstract: A tail rotor head of a rotary wing aircraft is disclosed, the tail rotor head having at least a pitch control unit and a tail rotor hub, wherein a multiplicity of tail rotor blade holders are arranged to be connectable while reaching through openings in the tail rotor hub and the pitch control unit at the tail rotor head. The tail rotor blade is detachably connected at a first side of the tail rotor blade holder and a tension torsion strap is detachably mounted at a second side of the tail rotor blade holder. The tension torsion strap runs from the tail rotor head at least partly through the tail rotor blade holder radially outward in a direction of the tail rotor blade, thereby allowing for easy replacement of single rotor blades and a more simplified maintenance of the tail rotor head.
