  • Publication number: 20230116373
Abstract: A holographic system comprises an image processor, a hologram calculator and a display driver. The image processor is arranged to determine first and second secondary images by sampling the pixel values of a primary image at a regular array of sampling positions. The hologram calculator is arranged to determine a hologram of each secondary image. The display driver is arranged to display each hologram in rapid succession on a display device, first and second times, so as to reconstruct each secondary image from the respective hologram such that respective first and second arrays of image pixels corresponding to the primary image are perceivable. Image pixels of the reconstruction of the second secondary image are interposed between image pixels of the reconstruction of the first secondary image in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 11500331
Abstract: A holographic projector comprises an image processing engine arranged to, a hologram engine and a display engine. The image processing engine is arranged to receive a source image for projection. The source image comprises a first colour component and a second colour component. The image processing engine is further arranged to form a first colour secondary image from the first colour component by nulling alternate pixel values of the first colour component in accordance with a first checkerboard pattern. The image processing engine is further arranged to form a second colour secondary image from the second colour component by nulling alternate pixel values of the second colour component in accordance with a second checkerboard pattern. The first checkerboard pattern is opposite to the second checkerboard pattern.

  • Publication number: 20220299940
Abstract: A display engine arranged to generate patterns for display by a display device. The display engine is arranged to generate a pattern comprising a first pattern area comprising a first hologram of a first image for projection onto a first image plane and a first lens area of a first lens function having first optical power. The pattern further comprises a second pattern area comprising a second hologram of a second image for projection onto a second image plane and a first lens area of a second lens function having second optical power. The first optical power and the second optical power are different, such that the first image and second image are projected different distances from the pattern when the pattern is illuminated.

  • Patent number: 11231683
Abstract: There is provided a driver for a spatial light modulator. The spatial light modulator comprises [m×n] pixels. The driver is arranged to receive input holograms each comprising [x×y] pixels, wherein m?x and n?y. The driver is further arranged to drive the spatial light modulator to display thereon output holograms each comprising [m×n] pixels by tiling each input hologram onto the pixels of the spatial light modulator to form an output hologram corresponding to each input hologram using a tiling scheme. The driver is arranged to use a first tiling scheme to display a first output hologram and a second tiling scheme to display a second output hologram. Each output hologram comprises a plurality of tiles of the input hologram. Each tiling scheme defines the size of each tile and the position of each tile on the pixels of the spatial light modulator.

  • Publication number: 20210191321
Abstract: A method of holographic projection. The method comprises projecting at least one calibration image using a first colour holographic channel and a second colour holographic channel. Each calibration image comprises at least one light spot. The method comprises performing the following steps for each calibration image in order to determine a plurality of displacements vectors at a respective plurality of different locations on the replay plane. A first step comprises projecting the calibration image onto the replay plane using a first colour holographic channel by displaying a first hologram on a first spatial light modulator and illuminating the first spatial light modulator with light of the first colour. A second step comprises projecting the calibration image onto the replay using a second colour holographic channel by displaying a second hologram on a second spatial light modulator and illuminating the second spatial light modulator with light of the second colour.

  • Patent number: 11004223
Abstract: A device for obtaining an image includes a projector configured to project light having a preset pattern to an object, a first camera configured to sense light reflected and fed back by the object to obtain a depth image, a second camera configured to obtain a color image of the object, a motion sensor configured to sense a motion of the device. The device also includes and a processor configured to obtain a color image and a plurality of depth images of the object, by changing a parameter about the projected light and the light sensed by the first camera. When the motion of the device is less than a threshold, the processor is configured to merge pieces of depth information respectively obtained from the plurality of depth images with each other, and obtain a 3D image of the object, based on the merged depth information and the color image.
