  • Patent number: 11635308
Abstract: A magnetic core structure for a Linear Variable Differential Transducer (LVDT) comprising an elongate core of magnetic material mounted within a protective tube and means for positioning the core within the protective tube, the means for positioning comprising a ball provided within the protective tube at one end of the core, the ball being formed of an elastic material having a coefficient of thermal expansion selected to compensate the difference in elongation between magnetic core structure components caused by thermal expansion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 2, 2021
Date of Patent: April 25, 2023
    Assignee: HAMILTON SUNDSTRAND CORPORATION

  • Publication number: 20210118600
Abstract: A linear variable differential transducer (LVDT) includes a primary coil, a first secondary coil, and a second secondary coil. Each of the first and second secondary coils comprises a wound portion that is wound around a longitudinal axis of the LVDT, and first and second non-wound portions at either end of the wound portion. The wound portion meets the first and second non-wound portions at locations that are separated from each other in a direction along the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 10954972
Abstract: A flapper for use in a servovalve is described, the flapper comprising a first material and a second material, the first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion and the second material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion and wherein the first and second coefficients of thermal expansion are different to each other. An armature/flapper assembly is also described, which comprises this flapper as well as a plate and a torsion bridge. A method of compensating for alteration of the null of a servovalve due to temperature changes in a servovalve is also described.
    Type: Grant
