  • Patent number: 6578624
Abstract: A heating and air-conditioning apparatus for the cabin of a motor vehicle. The apparatus includes a chassis within which air flows and equipped with an air-blowing mechanism and heating and cooling units for cooling and heating the air and a member for controlling the heating unit. At least one airflow duct communicates with the chassis, and at least one mixing shutter, with a variable degree of openness, controls the air stream towards the duct. The mixing shutter is arranged in the overall direction of the air flow downstream of the heating member and transmits additional air passing through the heating unit when the fresh air passage is wide open, and governs in an intermediate position of closure of the air flowing through the heating unit. The mixing shutter also switching a control member controlling the operation of the heating unit between an off and on position.

  • Patent number: 6425818
Abstract: An enclosure for treating air (1) of a passenger compartment, especially of a motor vehicle, comprises an inlet (2) which supplies cool air to a mixing chamber (4) and a heating chamber (5) supplying the mixing chamber with heated air. It further comprises a front channel (12) supplied from the mixing chamber with treated air intended for a front area of the passenger compartment, and a rear channel (15) supplied from the mixing chamber (4) with treated air intended for a rear area of the passenger compartment.

  • Patent number: 6419006
Abstract: A motor-vehicle heating and/or air conditioning device has a cold-air duct (12), a hot-air duct (14) housing a heating radiator (18), a mixing chamber (28) communicating with respective air outlets (24, 26) of the ducts, and mixing means which comprise at least one flap (30) configured in such a way that, when the flap passes from a “hot” position to a “cold” position, the shutter wall (34) of the flap first of all clears a region of the outlet (24) of the cold-air duct which is close to the outlet (26) of the hot-air duct, so as to promote the mixing of a cold airflow (F1) and of a hot airflow (F2).

  • Patent number: 6231437
Abstract: A motor-vehicle heating and/or air conditioning device has a cold-air duct, a hot-air duct housing a heating radiator, a mixing chamber communicating with respective air outlets of the ducts and a mixing means. The mixing means has at least one flap of drum type which, in the “hot” position, closes off the outlet of the cold-air duct, and, in the “cold” position, closes off the outlet of the hot-air duct. The shutter wall of the flap includes at least one recess such that, when the flap is shifted from the “hot” position to the “cold” position, a cold airflow can pass through the recess so as to encounter a hot airflow.

  • Patent number: 5873777
Abstract: A heating and ventilating installation for a motor vehicle includes a regulating valve for adjusting the distribution of fresh air, received from a fresh air delivery chamber, between a first duct and a second duct. The first duct contains a heating radiator, and the first and second ducts exhaust into an air mixing zone, which communicates with a ventilating air vent and a foot warming vent in the cabin of the vehicle. A temperature sensor is located immediately downstream of the heating radiator, and transmits signals, representing the prevailing value of the temperature of heated air in the first duct, to a processing module.

  • Patent number: 5797585
Abstract: A flap valve for a heating and/or air conditioning installation for a motor vehicle has a valve flap which is operated by a control device between an open position and a closed position. The control device comprises a driving lever which is coupled, through a link, to a driven lever fixed to the valve flap. The driving lever is rotated about its axis between an open position and a closed position of the driving lever, during which it passes through an intermediate position near to the closed position. The valve flap is closed when the driving lever reaches its intermediate position, so that the travel of the latter between its intermediate and closed positions is dead travel during which the valve is in the closed position of the valve and the link is in compression so as to change its effective length.

  • Patent number: 5302152
Abstract: A heating installation for a motor vehicle is of the kind in which air, from two air processing circuits is delivered to the left hand and right hand halves of the vehicle cabin respectively, in such a way that the temperature of the air in the two halves of the vehicle can be adjusted so as to be different if required. The installation includes a moulded member defining four air streams between the outlets of the left and right hand processing circuits and a windshield de-icing/de-misting slot means, namely: a first flow path extending from the left hand circuit to a left hand slot region; a second flow path extending from the left hand circuit to the right hand slot region; a third flow path extending from the right hand circuit to the left hand slot region; and a fourth flow path extending from the right hand circuit to the right hand slot region.

  • Patent number: 4995554
Abstract: A control unit for a heating and ventilating installation for an automotive vehicle, with or without air conditioning, comprises a module in the form of a housing, with two coaxial rotatable control knobs projecting from the outside of the housing and two coaxial shafts coupled respectively with the two knobs, each shaft rotating with the corresponding knob. Each shaft is also coupled with one of two transmission members rotatable with the corresponding shaft, the transmission members being mounted within the housing and arranged to act respectively on temperature regulating means and air distribution means of the vehicle, for passing the air into the passenger compartment or cab. The control unit also has a fixed intermediate sleeve arranged between the two shafts so as to prevent any interaction between the two control knobs.
