  • Patent number: 8169955
Abstract: Methods for controlling orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) communications over satellite links. The methods include estimating a differential delay in a satellite spotbeam between a mean propagation delay in the spotbeam and a propagation delay between a user terminal in the spotbeam and a satellite, estimating an overlap between an OFDMA uplink frame and an OFDMA downlink frame as a result of the differential delay, and providing a guard band in the OFDMA uplink frame and/or the OFDMA downlink frame to reduce an overlap between remaining portions of the OFDMA uplink frame and the OFDMA downlink frame other than the guard band. Corresponding systems and devices are also disclosed.

Inventors: Arif Ansari, Jean-Michel Bories, Michel Cohen, Erwan Corbel
  • Patent number: 8075582
Abstract: The invention relates to an expandable intra-gastric balloon (1) for treating obesity, the balloon being for implanting in the stomach in order to reduce its volume, said balloon (1) comprising a first flexible pouch (2) provided with first connection means (3) for receiving a connection member (6) that is for connection to a first fluid source in order to expand said first pouch (2) in the stomach by filling it with fluid, the balloon being characterized in that it includes at least one second flexible pouch (20) provided with second connection means (3?), said second connection means (3?) being separate from the first connection means (3) in such a manner as to be capable of being connected to a second fluid source different from the first fluid source. The invention applies to treating obesity.

  • Patent number: 4082222
Abstract: An atomizer assembly comprises a nozzle mounted in a push-button mounted on a tubular extension to a first piston of the assembly. The first piston is slidable in a first cylinder or pump chamber and defines a seat of a valve. A valve member co-operating with the seat forms part of a second piston slidable in a second cylinder defined by the first piston. Depression of the push-button causes pressure in the pump chamber to increase and at a certain point the valve member is lifted from the seat so that liquid under pressure passes to the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4025046
Abstract: An atomizer comprises a cylinder defining a pump chamber and containing a piston. The chamber communicates with an atomizer nozzle by a valve comprising a valve member which is opened at a predetermined liquid pressure during operation of the piston to pressurize the liquid in the pump chamber. Liquid is fed into the pump chamber through a conduit which projects upwardly into the cylinder. A sleeve rigid with the valve member or the piston engages the conduit during operation of the piston to prevent communication between the conduit and the pump chamber.

  • Patent number: 3954354
Abstract: A pump primarily intended for incorporation in a dip-tube sprayer includes a hollow piston slidable in a cylinder which communicates with an outlet tube. The piston defines a seat for a valve which in the inoperative condition prevents communication between the cylinder and the outlet or delivery tube. The piston has the form of a shallow cup and is not totally covered by the valve when seated. One or more bleeds are provided in the part of the piston covered by the valve.

  • Patent number: 3940070
Abstract: An atomiser having a tapered pump chamber in which a valved lipped piston is slidably mounted, the piston being compressed radially inwardly by the tapered pump chamber to ensure a tight seal between the valve and its valve seat.
