  • Patent number: 7164813
Abstract: A pressure sensor with a Bragg grating that may be particularly applicable to the chemical industry and for example includes an optical fiber and a Bragg grating formed in a portion of the fiber, submitted to pressure, and a lateral support of the portion. The portion is submitted to a compression prestress with a small value compared with a measurement range of the sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 26, 2003
Date of Patent: January 16, 2007
    Assignee: Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique
    Inventor: Michel Bugaud
  • Patent number: 7054525
Abstract: A device for tuning a Bragg grating, by compression by a piezoelectric actuator. The device is particularly applicable to optical telecommunications and for example includes a mechanism to compress an optical fiber portion, containing a Bragg grating, and a mechanism to prevent buckling of the portion, a tube crossed by the portion, and a guide to guide this portion in the tube. The compression mechanism includes a curved deformable component and a piezoelectric actuator that is positioned between the component and the tube, and that extends when it is energized and thereby deforms the component, the latter then compressing the portion.

  • Publication number: 20050244112
Abstract: This connector comprises a at least one shape memory means, comprising a first sleeve (14) made of a shape memory material and a second sleeve (16) made of an elastic material. The sleeves are coaxial and capable of applying radial forces on each other to fix or to release the ends (6, 8) of the fibers. The difference Sm1×Mm1?Sm2×Mm2, where Sm1 and Sm2 represent the cross sections of the sleeves and Mm1 and Mm2 represent their corresponding moduli of elasticity, is negative, when the first sleeve is in its martensitic phase, and positive when this first sleeve is in its austenitic phase.

  • Publication number: 20040141676
Abstract: This spectrometer comprises at least one elementary spectrometer that comprises an optical phase array comprising a microguide assembly (12) and formed on a cleaved planar optical guide (14), reflecting means (24, 30, 32, 34) capable of successively reflecting radiation sent from the microguide assembly, for propagating this radiation in the folded form and in free space, means (26) for photodetecting the radiation so reflected and means (28) for focusing radiation on said photodetection means.
