  • Publication number: 20070227383
Abstract: The present invention provides a soft lithographic stamp (30) and a method for the manufacturing of such a stamp (30). A stamp (30) according to the present invention comprises blocking regions (37) and printing regions (38). The blocking regions (37) are formed of a material which is different from the material the printing regions (38) are formed of and which exhibits a reduced permeability, diffusivity or absorbing or adsorbing capability to the printing compound, such that it prevents or significantly reduces chemical or physical transport or transfer of the printing compound from the blocking regions to a substrate that has to be patterned or printed.

  • Publication number: 20070139486
Abstract: A system for manipulation of a body of fluid, in particular a fluid droplet comprises several control electrodes to which an adjustable voltage is applied to control displacement of the droplet on the basis of the electrowetting effect. There is a counter electrode having a fixed voltage between the body of fluid and one of the control electrodes. Further, as the counter electrode and the control electrodes are located at the same side of the fluid droplet, the fluid droplet is freely accessible at its side remote from the counter electrode and the control electrodes. Hence, the fluid droplet can be employed as an object carrier and a pay-load can be placed on the droplet from the freely accessible side.

  • Publication number: 20070082293
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing high contrast optical storage discs. The method comprises usage of so-called liquid embossing technology process steps that turn out to be beneficial for mass-producing fluorescent optical data storage discs. The present invention also relates to a high contrast optical storage disc comprising an information layer that includes a fluorescent dye on a substrate. The information layer comprises a structure of lands and pits and wherein the lands have a thickness of substantially zero; and the pits have a finite thickness. The optical storage disc may well be multi-layered. The present invention also relates to an apparatus suitable for producing high contrast optical fluorescent storage discs.

  • Publication number: 20070063640
Abstract: The invention relates to an electroluminescent display panel (2) comprising a substrate and a plurality of display pixels (3) including an electroluminescent material defined on or over said substrate. The display panel (2) further includes at least one microcontact printed hydrophobic layer (11) between adjacent display pixels (3). The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing such a display panel. The method avoids the need to apply photoresist barriers for containing the liquid electrolumi-nescent material.

  • Publication number: 20060226013
Abstract: A system for manipulation of a small object comprises a carrier to transport the small object to a substrate to receive the small object. A fluid droplet which couples the small object detachably to the carrier and/or to the substrate. The coupling of the small object to the fluid droplet relative to the coupling of the fluid droplet to the substrate is electrically controlled on the basis of the electrowetting effect.

  • Publication number: 20060105549
Abstract: A system for manipulating a small object (3) comprising a substrate to receive the small object (3), a liquid droplet (4), which carries the small object (3) on the substrate, and a pre-treated surface structure of the substrate in the vicinity (1,2) of the placement position (1) of the small object (3). The small objects (3) like silicon dies in the range from 100 down to 1 micrometer are fine-placed by an evaporating droplet (4). The dies will serve as active electronic elements in large-area displays and other applications.

  • Publication number: 20050243268
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method of obtaining a pair of substrates spaced from each other by spacers comprising: a) providing a first substrate overlaid with a first layer with a patterned hydrophobic second layer or a patterned hydrophilic second layer that can take on an electrostatic charge; and b) optionally treating the parts of the first layer that are not covered with the hydrophobic or hydrophilic second layer to form a patterned hydrophilic third layer that can take on an electrostatic charge with a sign that is opposite to the sign of the electrostatic charge that can be taken on by the hydrophilic second layer, if the second layer is a hydrophilic layer; c) providing at least one of the first, second, and third layer with an electrostatic charge; d) contacting the electrostatically charged patterned first substrate with a dispersion of polymeric particles (spacers), which are functionalized so that the polymeric particles at their surface can take on an electrostatic charge with a sign opposite t

  • Publication number: 20050173049
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transferring a pattern from a stamping surface (31) of a stamp (30) to a receiving surface (21) of a substrate (20). The pattern is transferred to the receiving surface (21) by successively bringing portions of the pattern within such a range of the receiving surface (21) during a certain period, that the pattern is locally transferred from the stamping surface (31) to the receiving surface (21). The individual portions can be moved by means of individual actuators (50). By applying the method, the transfer of the pattern can be performed according to a wave, which is for example ring-shaped, moving from the center of the receiving surface (21) to the circumference, or linear, moving from side of the receiving surface (21) to an opposite side.
