  • Patent number: 7636199
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of optical devices allowing the superposition of an electronic image on an image coming from an external scenery. The subject of the invention is an optical device for superposing images, designed to be positioned in front of an optical module comprising at least an objective and a photosensitive surface positioned in the focal plane of said objective. The device comprises an image source, an optical relay and an optical combiner formed of two optical parts assembled via an approximately plane common face including a weakly reflective coating. The combiner has the general form of a plate with plane parallel faces, the common face being inclined at around 45 degrees to said plane faces. It has an entrance face and a opposing face that are approximately perpendicular to the plane faces, the opposing face having approximately the form of a reflecting spherical surface.

  • Patent number: 7582459
Abstract: A method for producing a polysaccharide and a conjugate vaccine including the polysaccharide produced according to the method. A characteristic step in the method is that the pH of the culture medium is kept at a constant value with base or acid until adjustment with respectively base or acid is not possible anymore. Using the method, capsular polysaccharide may be obtained in a high yield in a relatively short time. The method is straightforward, reproducible and cost-effective.

  • Patent number: 6760383
Abstract: A method and apparatus for achieving longer data transmission distances in Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Lines (SDSL) systems, while providing spectral compatibility with Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Lines (ADSL) systems is disclosed. The method and apparatus enables deployment of SDSL and ADSL in any mix in a binder group of twisted pair copper wires without sacrificing performance of either system. The apparatus transmits signals from opposite ends of the twisted pair subscriber loop using first and second discrete frequency bands. The advantages include longer service reach and deployment without regard to ADSL/SDSL services mix in a binder group.

  • Patent number: 6282881
Abstract: A system for cooling the lubricant of the speed reducer of an aircraft turboshaft-engine during high-speed flight and during low-speed taxying. The cooling system includes a radiator through which the lubricant flows. An air supply duct delivers cooling air over the radiator. An air discharge duct discharges the air into the exhaust nozzle of the engine. The air supply duct is fed by an arcuate air take-off slot disposed in the air intake of the engine. The air discharge duct is provided with a flap for slowing air flow through the cooling system, and with an ejector-mixer, which is fed by compressed air, taken from the engine compressor, for creating a Venturi effect to increase air flow through the cooling system when required.

  • Patent number: 5764417
Abstract: A compact optical device used to superimpose an intensified infrared image onto a visible image to allow night vision. It can especially be used to make goggles to be worn under the visor of an aircraft or helicopter pilot's helmet. The device includes a combiner located in front of the pilot's eye for directly transmitting visible light to the pilot and an objective for receiving infrared light which is placed above the combiner. An optical system guides the light received by the objective towards the combiner to be forwarded to the pilot's eye. The light is guided in a single plane substantially perpendicular to the plane containing the light received by the objective. The optical system includes a light intensifier, a transport objective, an even number of mirrors to fold the optical circuit and an eye piece.

  • Patent number: 5572203
Abstract: A device for controlling the position of a symbolic image generated on a combiner by a head-up display system. Two tests are performed alternately: a general position test, using a luminous spot generated on the image; and a combiner position test, using a light source, fixed to the structure of the image generator and using the same collimating unit as this generator. The signals generated by each of these light sources are received by the same position sensor whose output signals are processed by the same circuit that varies the image's X and Y positioning voltages. The circuit incorporates an amplifier equipped with a gain switch that allows the amplifying gain to be set according to which test is being performed at any given time.
