  • Patent number: 9704153
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for wireless payment and information collection. A central system generates a personalized application including unique application and transaction identifiers, security keys, and signatures for a user device. The user device implements the personalized application in order to access the services of the associated network. Tags, capable of short-range communication with the user devices, are deployed to service access points of the associated network. The tags and user device mutually authenticate and share identifiers. Validation of the user device results in the tag updating an irreversible counter, generating transaction certificate, and logging this transaction information. The transaction certificate and a portion of the log are communicated to the user device, and service is granted. The user device transmits the transaction information and log to the central system for billing when a network connection is available.

  • Patent number: 8386437
Abstract: A system and method for document management are provided. The method relies on a logging system which automatically generates image logs for input documents for each job (print, copy, fax, scan, etc.) processed by the multifunction printing device(s) of an organization. The image logs are processed to identify keywords which are the basis of a search for similar documents among those which have been previously archived as well as documents in other accessible document repositories, including Web documents. The method identifies matching documents and optionally also revisions and related documents. A procedure is provided for ensuring that for each document processed by a multifunction device or other image output device of the organization, image data is archived (or identified as a public document without archiving). The method avoids duplication by using a digital matching document, where available, enabling the images of the image log for the input document to be discarded.

  • Patent number: 7617195
Abstract: In accordance with the disclosure, there is provided a method for identifying duplicate documents comprising drafting a first document and creating a near unique representative string based on the document content. The method further comprises searching for other documents with the same NRS and selectively assigning a duplicate group identification to the first document, the duplicate group identification is unique if no near unique representative string matches are found, or the duplicate group identification is the same as an associated duplicate document's duplicate group identification that matches the NRS. The method further comprises placing the DGI into a meta-data of the first document and recalling a list of duplicates of a particular document based upon user demand by searching the meta-data and selecting documents using the same DGI.

  • Patent number: 7590934
Abstract: A meta-document includes an object conveying document information, processing information pertaining to processing of the meta-document and metadata for indexing and retrieving the processing information. The processing information is recorded on the meta-document each time the meta-document is processed in some manner. Each time processing information is recorded on the document, appropriate metadata for indexing and retrieving the processing information is also stored on the meta-document. Creation and recording of the processing information and associated metadata on the meta-document may be accomplished externally by the particular source or environment to which the meta-document may be residing. Alternatively, each meta-document may include a tool (e.g., a software program or macro) embedded on the object. Whenever the meta-document is accessed or processed, the embedded tool creates the appropriate processing information and associated metadata.

  • Patent number: 6973655
Abstract: A system for integrating services in a system includes a plurality of services, wherein each service includes a software component associated with the system and provides at least one functionality. A user interface, such as a web browser, displays the plurality of services, wherein each service has a link associated with it for accessing the service directly. A scripting shell, responsive to selection of a first service and a second service from the plurality of services, pipes the first and second services together to form a scenario such that output from the first service is provided as input to the second service. A link may be associated with scenario for accessing the scenario directly.

  • Patent number: 6473729
Abstract: A system and method are provided for translating an input text from a natural source language to a natural target language. The system stores a database that contains a plurality of pairs of text fragments with each pair including a text fragment in the source language and a corresponding text fragment in the target language. Each text fragment contains at least one word phrase and represents a primary grammatical unit such as a sentence or a clause. For translating a word phrase, the database is queried using a phrase index of the database, where the phrase index indexes text fragments by word phrases. Word phrases are noun phrases or word phrases. Alternatively, word phrases are predicates involving at least one verb and one noun or adjective used as a noun. The system further comprises a phrase extractor for extracting a word phrase from a text fragment of an input text.
