  • Patent number: 5133995
Abstract: A process for preimpregnating reinforcing elements with a liquid substance includes the following series of steps or stages: placing the reinforcing elements in a sealable enclosure, applying a vacuum of sufficient intensity and duration to the enclosure to eliminate at least the majority of water and gas present in the reinforcing elements contained therein and introducing sufficient liquid substance into the enclosure for the substance to cover the elements once the elements have been impregnated. The device for carrying out this process includes an enclosure for containing the elements, means for applying a vacuum to the enclosure for removing at least the majority of the water and gas present in the reinforcing elements and an orifice or conduit for introducing the liquid substance into the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5061338
Abstract: A processing device for a continuous manufacturing of curved strips with a constant or non-constant cross-section, with the curved strips including reinforcing elements embedded in a stabilizable material and produced inside a molding element wrapped around a mandrel at a first end. The reinforcing elements are disposed in the molding element and the elements are impregnated with a stabilizable material, which material is stabilized over at least a portion of a length of the mandrel. The molding element is axially discontinuously displaced relative to the mandrel so as to run toward a second end of the mandrel opposite the first end, with the molding element being disengaged from the mandrel at the second end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4988128
Abstract: The invention provides a coupling and a method of manufacturing such a coupling for a shaft having at least one free traction resistant reinforcement framework, said drawn, wedge or plugged coupling including, in the immediate vicinity of the anchorage means, free threads of the tractive force resistant framework and an elastomer cushion through which the threads pass, said cushion increasing the resistance of the couplings and allowing a better use of the shafts.

  • Patent number: 4932352
Abstract: The invention provides a method and device for impregnating at least one elongate element by transferring a thermostabilizable substance from a supply station by means of a supply means, the element being moved in front of the transfer means which includes a mobile surface passing in front of the station then in front of the element, the substance being deposited on the surface in said station and being transferred therefrom at least partially onto the element in a zone close thereto, wherein the transfer means includes thermoregulation means such as heating means, adapted so that the temperature at the surface in the impregnation zone is substantially higher than that of the substance in said supply station.

  • Patent number: 4904176
Abstract: A device for continuously producing reinforced stabilizable profiled section bodies, with the device including a mandrel and a drive for rotationally driving the mandrel around the longitudinal axis thereof. The mandrel maintains at least one support of a profile section helically wound on the mandrel. A reinforcement impregnated with stabilizable material is wound around the mandrel and the at least one support. A stabilization arrangement is disposed on at least one portion of a length of the mandrel, and the reinforced material, having undergone stabilization, is separated from the mandrel. The support is wound onto a first extremity of the mandrel and separated from the mandrel at a second extremity. The first extremity of the mandrel includes a first elevated zone or calibration bearing surface on which the support is to be wound, with the bearing surface having a sufficient length to drive the support, through a capstan effect, while not impeding a progression of the support on the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4858653
Abstract: A tubular structure is provided including an internal tube and an external tube which is formed from at least a straight strip bent or undulated, whose width is disposed substantially along at least a line normal to said tubes which it separates. It may be used, for example filled with an insulating lagging, by surrounding a pipe line or being adapted to the pipe line which then forms the internal tube.

  • Patent number: 4811761
Abstract: A flexible tube including a sheath having a corrugated outer surface wherein a path of intersection of the corrugated outer surface with a plane passing through a center axis of the tube corresponds to a curve having undulations defining a number of hollow portions and rounded zones interconnecting adjacent hollow portions. The rounded zones have at each point an osculating circle having a center situated on a same side of the sheath and a non-infinite radius of curvature. At least one laterally rigid outer reinforcing element fills the hollow portions to a height such that it reaches at least to the rounded zones, and the reinforcing element is non-adhering to walls of the sheath.
