  • Publication number: 20020192406
Abstract: The present invention relates to repulpable wrappers comprising water-activatable adhesive(s). The present invention is also concerned with methods for wrapping a master roll of paper manufactured in a paper-maker plant. The present invention is also concerned with a master roll of paper wrapped with a wrapper having a water-activated adhesive. The wrappers of the invention are fully recyclable and fully repulpable. They are also less sensitive to blocking than regular commonly used wrappers. The methods for wrapping master rolls of paper according to the invention are more effective and much more environmentally friendly than the methods actually used in the industry.

  • Patent number: 6401390
Abstract: This invention relates to a mulch having a preprogrammed biodegradability comprising at least two different layers of biodegradable polymer coated onto a sheet of a cellulosic material, one of these layers being a layer of polylactide. The mulch is particularly useful to control weeds in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry industries. The biodegradability of the mulch can further be preprogrammed according to the type of soil, the climatological zone, and the specific applications wherefore it is intended to be used. The present invention is also directed to methods for preparing and using the multilayer coated mulch.

  • Patent number: 6164011
Abstract: The mulch comprises a sheet of paper having a thickness between 2 and 4 mils and a basis weight between about 40 g/m.sup.2 and 60 g/m.sup.2. The sheet has at least one face coated with a layer of polylactide, which is used in an amount such that it weighs between about 2 g/m.sup.2 and 15 g/m.sup.2. The preparation is carried out by depositing on the sheet an amount of a hot extruded liquid layer of polylactide such that when it solidifies, it weighs between about 2 g/m.sup.2 and 15 g/m.sup.2, and allowing the layer to solidify and adhere to the sheet, whereby forming the mulch.

  • Patent number: 5516580
Abstract: An insulating material is described and comprised of loose fill short cellulose fibers and bonding synthetic fibers. The synthetic fibers are of longer length than the short cellulosic fibers and have an outer sheath which is heat-fused with outer sheaths of other synthetic fibers at crossing contact points thereof to form a matrix having pockets for retaining the loose fill cellulosic fibers therein and throughout the matrix thereby eliminating the need of an adhesive binder to retain the cellulose fibers in the matrix. The matrix can form a body having the shape of a batt of insulation and the batt may be provided with a facing sheet of suitable vapor permeability.
