Publication number: 20060119065Abstract: A molded running board provided with a support portion and a top portion is described herein. The support portion is made of plastic material and provided with reinforcing ribs and the top portion is made of a plastic material that is advantageously compatible with the plastic material forming the support portion. A method for the assembly of such a molded running board is also described herein. This method includes the welding of a top portion to a support portion via the use of a thin strand of plastic material compatible with material used in the top portion and the support portion and metallic particles in an electromagnetic press, for example.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2006Publication date: June 8, 2006Applicant: IPL, Inc.Inventors: Michel Lanoue, Normand Mercier, Philippe Begin

Patent number: 6692245Abstract: An apparatus for forming a frame including a rigid thermoplastic portion and a resilient portion defining a lip seal. In particular, a core/cavity mold assembly is provided, wherein the rigid thermoplastic portion is formed, by opening the mold assembly while maintaining the rigid thermoplastic portion in the core, placing the core in line with a second cavity configured and sized to form the lip seal and molding the lip seal directly onto the rigid thermoplastic portion. The mold cavity is provided with movable internal and external stripper rings that allow the resilient portion to be removed from the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1999Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Michel Lanoue, Jean-Francois Lavoie, Randall Leach, Gary Meyers

Patent number: 5582296Abstract: A stackable tray comprising a body formed of rigid plastics material and consisting of a bottom wall integrally formed with opposite side walls and opposite front and rear walls; the front wall, at least, defines an access area to allow removal of articles from the bottom wall when the tray is in a superposed stacked relationship with similarly constructed trays; the front wall has an upper edge defining an enclosed tubular section extending from side wall to side wall to reinforce the tray when in a stacked relationship with similarly constructed trays and to counteract sagging of the bottom wall due to weight of articles placed thereon.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1994Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Maurice Beauchamp, Michel Lanoue

Patent number: 5372257Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a stackable tray which is formed of a body of rigid plastic material with a bottom wall integrally formed with opposite side walls and front and rear walls; each side wall is provided with an upper edge flange which is engageable in a recessed area defined in the lower edge of a superposed similarly constructed tray. The location of the recessed area with respect to the upper edge flange is such as to force outwardly the side walls during stacking engagement thus causing internal stresses in the bottom wall which counteract the sagging which occurs when loads are supported on the bottom wall.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1994Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Maurice Beauchamp, Michel Lanoue

Patent number: 5353948Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a container consisting of a unitary body and of a pair of covering lids, the body and the lids being made of injection molded plastic material. The lids are hingedly connectable to the upper edges of the body through a snap engagement. The lids are thus formed of integral C-shaped projections along their longitudinal outer edge which engage onto integral hinge portions along the upper edge of the body side walls. The lids have their longitudinal inner edge constructed to define a trough allowing water collected on top of the lids to be dispensed trough appropriate openings in the end walls of the container body.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1993Date of Patent: October 11, 1994Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventors: Michel Lanoue, Roch Nolet

Patent number: 5261625Abstract: The disclosure describes herein a box within which is mounted a reel having a supply of wire, cable or the like to be dispensed. An opening is provided in one of the walls of the box to allow the egress of one end of the strand. A cover securely contains the reel within the box. Also mounted within the box is a brake device which has a portion slidingly contacted by the strand prior to egressing from the box. An external pull on the strand frees interengageable elements on the brake device and on one of the side plates of the reel from blocking rotation of the reel in one direction. As soon as a pull is no longer exerted on the strand, a resilient element on the brake device urges the elements to interengage to thereby stop rotation of the reel.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1992Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: IPL Inc.Inventor: Michel Lanoue
