Patent number: 7104303Abstract: Method and apparatus for stabilizing a fire building drum wherein the fire building drum has two ends, is permanently supported at a single cantilever support end, and the remaining end is a free end. The method comprises providing a free end support engaged with the free end to stabilize the tire building drum by restricting lateral movement of the free end; and freeing the free end by temporarily retracting the free end support when desired, e.g., to enable application of annular fire components on the tire building drum, or to enable removal of a built tire from the fire building drum. Preferably, the free end support allows rotation of the fire building drum while the free end support is engaged with the free end. A preferred embodiment uses overtravel of actuator linkages stopped against an extension stop to lock the free end support in place, engaged with the free end, to stabilize the tire building drum without requiring continued power input.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: Michel Lemaire, Francis Cornet

Patent number: 6762881Abstract: An optical arrangement has a light source which emits coherent light of a specific wavelength. Further provided is an optical Littrow grating, arranged at a specific Littrow angle &thgr;L. It has a multiplicity of parallel diffraction structures following one another periodically at an interval in each case of one specific grating period and arranged on a substrate predetermining a base area. The light wavelength, the grating period and the Littrow angle &thgr;L are tuned to one another in such a way that the grating is used in one of the largest diffraction orders m for light reflected back at the Littrow angle &thgr;L, which still fulfils the condition: (2(m+1)/m−1) sin (&thgr;L)≧1 An optical arrangement of this kind has an increased reflection efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2002Date of Patent: July 13, 2004Assignee: Carl Zeiss Laser Optics GmbHInventors: Bernd Kleemann, Michel LeMaire
