  • Patent number: 12509788
Abstract: Apparatus and method for collecting and pretreating process gases produced in an electrolytic cell during aluminum production are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a collecting unit configured to draw off primary process gases from the electrolytic cell, for instance by drawing-off primary process gases from orifices purposely made over the electrolytic bath; and a pre-treating unit fluidly connected to the collecting unit and configured to receive a fluid bed of fluorinated alumina for pre-treating the primary process gases. The collecting and pre-treating units are within or immediately aside the electrolytic cell, in the potroom. The apparatus can be combine with a gas treatment center (GTC) located outside the potroom.

  • Publication number: 20220184522
Abstract: A method for transfer of heat between a first and a second fluid, wherein the first and the second fluid circulate respectively on both sides of a thermally conductive wall of a monobloc assembly formed in a single piece. The monobloc assembly, which is arranged in the interior of a device, includes: a first, three-dimensional, cellular, thermally conductive structure through which the first fluid can pass; at least the thermally conductive wall; and a second, three-dimensional, cellular, thermally conductive structure through which the second fluid can pass. The first and second three-dimensional, cellular structures are situated on both sides of and integral with the wall such that heat transfer is carried out from the first to the second fluid through the wall, and both first and second fluids are under liquid phases and under gaseous phases, with the liquid phases circulating in a direction opposite that of the gaseous phases.

  • Patent number: 5755274
Abstract: The strip casting plant has a casting nozzle (10) displaceable in the direction of flow (F) of the liquid metal and adjustable perpendicular to this, to supply liquid metal to the adjustable roller gap (30) between rotating dies (26, 28). The casting nozzle (10) consists of an upper and a lower nozzle element (14, 16) and in vertical strip casting plants a left and a right nozzle element (14, 16) mounted on a melt distribution trough, and two side limiters which form a slot-like outlet opening (20) for the liquid metal. One or both of the nozzle elements (14, 16) is adjustable at least in the area of the outlet opening (20). On operation of the strip casting plant, the casting nozzle (10) is advanced at the start with outlet opening (20) in start position (S) and then withdrawn to work position (W), where the outlet opening (20) is expanded under adaptation to the casting rollers (26, 28).
