  • Patent number: 5101464
Abstract: An opto-electronic component such as a semiconductor optical amplifier (L) is mounted on a copper base (EL) which is received in a receptacle constituted by two blocks (DA, DB) of ferrous alloy. Two other blocks (BA, BB) carry fibers to be coupled (FA, FB) and they are fixed to said receptacle by weld spots (PA, QA, PB, QB) on the edges of the faces of said blocks that are bearing against one another. The invention is particularly suitable for optical fiber telecommunications networks.

  • Patent number: 5082376
Abstract: The assembly is implemented in the form of an optical head integrating not only an optical isolator (6, 8), but also a semiconductor amplifier and phase modulator (18). The amplifier-modulator is aligned parallel to the light-emitting laser (2) by a rotation compensator (14, 15) that compensates for the rotation applied by the isolator to the polarization of light from the laser. The invention is particularly applicable to optical fiber telecommunications.
