    Abstract: A method of configuring a lock system comprising a plurality of lock system devices comprises the following steps: defining a plurality of command and status messages, wherein each of the messages has a specific function when received by a device, defining a plurality of device types, wherein each of the types can send predetermined command and status messages, sending a claiming message from each device, wherein the claiming message from a specific device comprises information relating to the predetermined messages that the specific device can send, and storing, in each of the devices, the information relating to the predetermined messages that every other device can send. By this method, a simple lock system can be set up without involvement of the person installing the system. A lock system and a lock system device using this method are also provided.
