  • Patent number: 5660677
Abstract: The present invention concerns a tire-building process in which a so-called "shaping" building drum is used and in which a ply turn-up bladder (2) is clamped on the outside of each bead recess (6) by an assembly of pallets (11) which can open in fan shape and cover the turn-up bladder completely in circumferential direction and in part in axial direction. The axial displacement of the said pallets (11), controlled by the axial displacements of two pistons (7) and (8), makes it possible to modify the shape of the ply turn-up bladder (2).

  • Patent number: 5556488
Abstract: The invention relates to a tire formed of a plurality of independent pneuic sectors (S) intended to be mounted on a single rim (J) but removable individually from said rim (J), they being inflatable individually or together. The sectors (S) include at least one reinforcing armoring (4) anchored on at least one circumferential bead wire (10) in each circumferential bead, which is the bead mounted on the wheel rim (J), the reinforcing armoring (4) being radially adjacent to a reinforcement armoring (8) of the tread (2). The circumferential bead wires (10) are connected to meridian bead wires (11) located in the sidewalls (50) of the circumferentially adjacent sectors (S).

  • Patent number: 5104600
Abstract: A method of making a prevulcanized tread particularly useful for the recapping of tires having, in stress-free condition, a constant curvature in its longitudinal direction whose radius corresponds substantially to that of the tires to be recapped, the sole of the tread being concave, is characterized by the fact that the tread has two ends in its longitudinal direction. The method includes feeding continuously a strip of raw rubber to an inner mold moving about an axis in a curved path, closing an outer mold for the tread pattern with the inner mold so that the closed molds form a continuous molding space within which the tread is completely molded and vulcanized as the closed molds move together about an axis of rotation, and opening the moving molds to discharge continuously in the longitudinal direction the prevulcanized tread of constant curvature.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing prevulcanized tread particularly useful for the recapping of tires having, in stress-free condition, a constant curvature in its longitudinal direction whose radius corresponds substantially to that of the tires to be recapped, the sole of the tread being concave, is characterized by the fact that the tread has two ends in its longitudinal direction. The apparatus includes quasicylindrical inner and outer molds which travel in a curved path corresponding to the radius of curvature to be imparted to the curved tread.

  • Patent number: 4934426
Abstract: A process of bonding two bodies of rubber by vulcanization of a connecting layer of vulcanizable rubber provides essentially a new manner of organizing the drainage of gaseous inclusions imprisoned between the bodies and/or resulting from the subsequent vulcanization reaction and of collecting these gases; the gaseous inclusions travel towards at least one conduit which passes through at least one of the two bodies, or else towards dead-end holes provided in one of the faces intended to be bonded.
