  • Patent number: 8073096
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for the removal and transportation of thermal energy from a heat source to a distant complex for use in thermochemical cycles or other processes. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a hybrid heat pipes/thermosyphon intermediate heat exchanger (HPTIHX) system that is divided into three distinct sections, namely: an evaporation chamber, a condensation chamber, and a working fluid transport section of liquid and vapor counter-current flows.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 2008
Date of Patent: December 6, 2011
    Assignee: STC.UNM

  • Patent number: 4497200
Abstract: A method and a device are used for evaluating and indicating the wear conditions of a motor lubrication oil. The device comprises a motor oil temperature sensor, an electronic unit comprising a threshold detector and an analog circuit which receives a signal from the temperature sensor to supply a first current proportional to a temperature variation either below or above a satisfactory temperature for the oil, an integrating counter supplied with a second current in idle periods and a third current in periods of utilization, the sum of the three currents being integrated, and a signaling device associated with the threshold detector for measuring any voltage increase across the integrating counter. The invention is applicable to motor instruments, especially, automotive vehicle motors.

  • Patent number: 4384472
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the viscosities and the density of fluids comprises:(1) a first hydraulic bridge (I) having two diametrically opposed elements (2,3) through which fluid undergoes laminar flow and two diametrically opposed elements (4,5) through which fluid undergoes turbulent flow and means (6) connected to a junction (6) between one laminar element (2) and one turbulent element (5) and a junction (d) between the other turbulent element (4) and the other laminar element (13) capable of detecting the equilibrium of the bridge,(2) a first pump (1) controlled by the detecting means (b) and connected to the supply of fluid from which the fluid is fed into the first bridge (I),(3) a second hydraulic bridge (II) through which the fluid from the first bridge (I) can flow, said second bridge having four identical elements (9,10,11,12) through which the fluid from the first bridge (I) flows turbulently and a constant flow volumetric pump (13) connected to a point (B) between one pair of adjacent elements (9
