  • Patent number: 8792346
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of performing multicast admission control in a communications network (1?), comprising the steps of: a) receiving, at a first node (1-1) of the communications network (1?), a request (6) for a multicast channel (4b) from a host system (5b) communicatively coupled to the first node (1-1); b) sending, by the first node (1-1), a request (6) for the multicast channel (4b) to a central admission controller (7) of the communications network (1?), the sending of the request (6) being triggered by receiving the request (6) from the host system (5b); c) determining, by the central admission controller (7), if sufficient resources exist on nodes (1-1 to 3-1) and interconnecting links (1.1 to 3.

  • Patent number: 8719430
Abstract: A method for reconstructing torrent content metadata, i.e. a torrent identifier, a segment length and an amount of segments of a torrent content file, without access to the torrent content metafile, comprises the steps of: A. obtaining the torrent content identifier from torrent signaling from a client; B. obtaining a torrent content file size from said torrent signaling from said client; C. obtaining a tracker address from said torrent signaling from said client: D. obtaining a peer address from a tracker; E. contacting a peer via the peer address; F. downloading sequential minimum size blocks of a full size segment from the peer in order to determine the segment length; G. calculating the amount of segments from the torrent content file size and the segment length.

  • Publication number: 20130297703
Abstract: A peer node configured to exchange data with other peer nodes through a peer-to-peer protocol includes a categorization and selection module. The selection module is configured to receive peer node identifiers extracted from messages received from the other peer nodes, to categorize the peer node identifiers according to one or more criteria in one of at least two categories, and to select a peer node identifier as a peer node identifier to be used for communication through the peer-to-peer protocol, if the peer node identifier was categorized in a first category of the at least two categories.

  • Publication number: 20130219080
Abstract: A method for routing in a routing device includes receiving a plurality of data packets of a communication session, and consulting a set of routing rules for each data packet of the plurality of data packets. The set of routing rules indicates on which of at least two egress interfaces of said router each data packet of said plurality of data packets is to be forwarded. The method further includes forwarding each of the plurality of data packets on the respective egress interfaces, deriving information from the plurality of data packets, and deactivating at least one routing rule of the set of routing rules, at least based on whether the information meets predetermined criteria.

  • Publication number: 20130198332
Abstract: Processing method for replying to a distributed hash table (DHT) message from a DHT client in order to allow the DHT client to fill his DHT routing table, includes at a proxy processing agent having a plurality of nodes, receiving from the DHT client a DHT request message, and generating at least one node identifier and associating each node identifier with an IP address and a port number. Each IP address/port number combination corresponding with a node of the plurality of nodes. A DHT response message containing the at least one node identifier and associated IP address and port is sent to the DHT client, and the at least one generated node identifier and associated IP address and port are stored in connection with said DHT client.

  • Patent number: 6047028
Abstract: A method for generating an updated video stream from an incoming video stream for use in image encoding applications includes the steps of replacing each predetermined reference frame amongst a second plurality with an updated reference frame, obtained by temporal filtering of a first plurality of frames from said incoming video stream at positions dependent on the position of said each predetermined reference frame. If afterwards encoded using an encoding algorithm using the updated reference frames as reference frames, the thus encoded updated video stream will show a reduced peak-to-mean bitrate ratio compared to the encoded original video stream. An apparatus for performing this method is described as well.
