    Abstract: An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: an aerosol-generating substrate including a homogenised star anise material including star anise particles, an aerosol former, an exogenous binder, and up to 15 percent by weight of fibres, on a dry weight basis; at least 70 micrograms of (E)-anethole per gram of the substrate, on a dry weight basis; at least 50 micrograms of epoxyanethole per gram of the substrate, on a dry weight basis; and at least 130 micrograms of benzyl isoeugenol ether per gram of the substrate, on a dry weight basis, and the fibres have lengths of greater than 400 micrometres. An aerosol-generating substrate, an aerosol-generating system, and a method of making an aerosol-generating substrate are also provided.
