  • Publication number: 20060261329
Abstract: An electroluminescence generating device comprising e. a channel of organic semiconductor material, said channel being able to carry both types of charge carriers, said charge carriers being electrons and holes; f. an electron electrode, said electron electrode being in contact with said channel and positioned on top of a first side of said channel layer or within said channel layer, said electron electrode being able to inject electrons in said channel layer; g. a hole electrode, said hole electrode being spaced apart from said electron electrode, said hole channel and positioned on top of within said channel layer, said hole electrode being able to inject holes into said channel; h. a control electrode positioned on said first side or on a second side of said channel; whereby light emission of said electroluminescence generating device can be acquired by applying an electrical potential difference between said electron electrode and said hole electrode.

  • Publication number: 20050248263
Abstract: Process for the preparation of the facial isomer of tris(8-oxoquinoline) aluminum(III) (Alq3), comprising the step of heating ?-Alq3 in solid phase at a temperature equal to or higher than 350° C. but lower than 420° C., to obtain a mixture of ?-Alq3 and ?-Alq3.

  • Patent number: 6552791
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for nondestructively detecting the orientation of anisotropic molecules in thin films and in molecular layers in general. The present invention is based on a single measurement of the non-polarized photoluminescence spectrum, in order to determine whether the molecules are orientated at right angles or parallel to the surface of the molecular layer, fabricated with any technique. The method is fast and noninvasive and can also allow to observe noninterferingly in real time during growth the orientation of the molecules in the film. The result of this real-time observation can be used to optimize the growth conditions of the film in order to achieve the intended molecular orientation.
