Abstract: We describe herein compositions and methods related to inferring with microbial infection. Generally, the compositions include an infection antagonist that inhibits formation of a heparin sulfonated proteoglycan (HSPG)-containing infection complex. Generally, the methods include administering to a subject an amount of a composition as described herein effective to inhibit infection by a microorganism that that infects a host through interactions that involve HSPG.
