  • Patent number: 9770717
Abstract: The present invention is notably directed to a microfluidic chip. The chip comprises a main microfluidic channel, on one side of the chip, and a bead integration system. The bead integration system is arranged on said one side of the chip. It comprises an auxiliary microfluidic channel transverse to and in fluidic communication with the main microfluidic channel, so as to form an intersection therewith. The intersection is delimited by structural elements arranged in the main microfluidic channel. The structural elements are configured to retain, at said intersection, beads flowed in a bead suspension liquid advancing in said auxiliary microfluidic channel and passing the intersection. In addition, such structural elements are configured to let liquid advancing in the main microfluidic channel pass the intersection through the structural elements. The invention is further directed to related devices and methods.

  • Publication number: 20110131200
Abstract: Systems, methods, computer program product embodiments are provided for executing a function in a path-based query when extracting data from a markup language document for return as a relational table, the markup language document organized hierarchically into nodes. An embodiment includes receiving a path-based query including a complex row pattern and column definition, forming multiple sets of nodes based on a simplified row pattern and column definition, determining ancestor-descendent pairings for the nodes in the column definition set, and utilizing the ancestor-descendent pairings with the simplified row pattern to return a relational table satisfying the complex path-based query. An embodiment further includes extensible markup language (XML) as the markup language, and an XPath query expression as the complex path-based query.

  • Publication number: 20070230221
Abstract: A modified planar Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic (LTCC) high conductance inductor, embedding a large cross section conductor, supports a stacked arrangement of heat spreader, inductor and active device layers. Interlayer electrical connections connect the layers. Optionally, a DC-DC converter includes the modified planar LTCC high conductance inductor, embedding a large cross section conductor, supporting a stacked arrangement of heat spreader, capacitor and active device layers, the active devices layer including the switching transistors. The active devices layer may include semiconductor dies embedded in a substrate.

  • Publication number: 20070222549
Abstract: Ceramic inductors are made from stacked sheets of co-fired ceramic. At least one of the ceramic sheets has a slot with a conductor disposed in the slot. The conductor has a thickness equal to a thickness of the ceramic sheet containing the slot. The conductor has a large thickness (compared to prior art co-fired ceramic inductors) and therefore can carry large currents. The present ceramic inductor can be used in power electronics applications due to the ability to carry large currents. The present ceramic inductor preferably has an inductance that decreases with increasing current. A decreasing inductance characteristic tends to increase energy efficiency in a voltage regulator when the inductor is used as an output inductor. Specifically, the variable inductance tends to substantially increase energy efficiency at low current loads without adversely affecting efficiency at high loads.
