  • Patent number: 10494976
Abstract: A method for exhaust aftertreatment includes determining a diagnostic condition with respect to a threshold diagnostic condition, determining an SCR efficiency as a ratio of a readout of a first NOx sensor at a first NOx sensing position with respect to a readout of a second NOx sensor at a second NOx sensing position, the first NOx sensing position located about an engine out area within an exhaust stream before a DOC and the second NOx sensing position located about an output of an SCR device within the exhaust stream; and comparing the SCR efficiency to a threshold SCR efficiency range. If the SCR efficiency is less than the threshold SCR efficiency range, then trigger DOC failure for NO oxidation, and if the SCR efficiency is greater than or equal to the threshold SCR efficiency range, then DOC is determined to be operating within specifications.

  • Patent number: 10496432
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to techniques for improving startup times of a cloud-based virtual servers in response to a spike in service usage (although other applications are contemplated and described). According to some embodiments, in response to a request to provision a new virtual server in a cluster, high-priority services (e.g., those that enable the server to respond to system health checks or that support an application providing the service) are started while lower-priority services are delayed. In some embodiments, prior to receiving such a request, a new server may be started and then hibernated to create a “hot spare.” When the request is received, the hot spare may be taken out of hibernation to quickly bring the hot spare online. It is contemplated that the delayed-startup and hot spare embodiments may be used together to further improve performance.

  • Publication number: 20190361932
Abstract: A method for distributed pod-editing may be performed by an enhanced pod editor, and may include the following steps: receiving a framework for a pod, wherein the framework identifies one or more content items already assigned to one or more slots in the pod by one or more pod editors; determining attributes of the content items already assigned to the pod in a native taxonomy of the enhanced pod editor; determining restrictions on the pod's slots based on the attributes of the content items already assigned to the pod and on the pod's editorial constraints; rejecting content items already assigned to the pod that violate the restrictions on the pod's slots (if any); identifying candidate content items that comply with the restrictions on the pod's unfilled slots (if any), and selecting candidate content items and assigning the selected content items to the pod's unfilled slots.

  • Publication number: 20190361122
Abstract: Doppler correction of phase-encoded LIDAR includes a code indicating a sequence of phases for a phase-encoded signal, and determining a first Fourier transform of the signal. A laser optical signal is used as a reference and modulated based on the code to produce a transmitted phase-encoded optical signal. A returned optical signal is received in response. The returned optical signal is mixed with the reference. The mixed optical signals are detected to produce an electrical signal. A cross spectrum is determined between in-phase and quadrature components of the electrical signal. A Doppler shift is based on a peak in the cross spectrum. A device is operated based on the Doppler shift. Sometimes a second Fourier transform of the electrical signal and the Doppler frequency shift produce a corrected Fourier transform and then a cross correlation. A range is determined based on a peak in the cross correlation.

  • Publication number: 20190362370
Abstract: A variety of techniques for assessing visitor composition to a location in conjunction with one or more events are disclosed. Traffic associated with the presence of a set of devices at a location is received. The devices can be segmented based on a status—including into “recent” visitors and “re-engaged visitors.” A determination can be made of which additional events a given device was present at. A determination can be made as to how much time passes after an event before a given device returns to a location. A determination can be made as to the number of times a device visits a location during the event.

  • Publication number: 20190360395
Abstract: A stator vane assembly for a gas turbine engine in which both higher pressure cooling air and lower pressure cooling air are both supplied to the stator vane assembly to cool both an airfoil and inner and outer diameter endwall cavities of the stator vane assembly, in which the spent higher pressure cooling air is then discharged into a combustor of the gas turbine engine. The higher pressure cooling air flows through a closed loop cooling circuit formed within the stator vane assembly while the lower pressure cooling air is discharged through exit holes into the hot gas stream of the turbine.

  • Patent number: 10486001
Abstract: A scented mask is disclosed that includes: a filter region with one or more pleats that include a mask material and a pleat fold; and one or more scented patches. Each scented patch includes a patch lid attached to the mask material before the pleat fold; a patch-impermeable layer attached to the mask material after the pleat fold; and a layer impregnated with a scent agent attached to the patch-impermeable layer. The mask is constructed to transition from a sealed configuration to an unsealed configuration when a user places the mask over her nose and mouth: the sealed configuration where the mask material before and after the pleat fold are folded on each other and the patch lid covers and seals the impregnated layer, inhibiting the vaporization of the scent agent; and the unsealed configuration where the pleat fold is opened and the patch lid is separated from the impregnated layer, allowing for the vaporization of the scent agent.
