Patent number: 4834132Abstract: A fuel supply system including a fuel tank, a feed conduit through which fuel is pumped from the fuel tank, and a return conduit through which excess fuel is returned to the fuel tank. The fuel tank has first and second sumps. The system comprises an ejector pump having a pressure chamber opening through a throat into the first sump. The pressure chamber is connected through a communication conduit to the second sump. The ejector pump includes a fuel nozzle having an inlet port connected to the return conduit and a discharge end opening into the pressure chamber for discharging a jet of fuel into the pressure chamber to create a negative pressure in the pressure chamber so as to suck fuel through the communication conduit from the second sump. In one aspect of the invention, a relief valve is provided which is responsive to a back pressure produced in the fuel nozzle for relieving the back pressure to the first sump when the back pressure exceeds a predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1987Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignees: Nissan Motor Company, Limited, Jidosha Denki Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Michiaki Sasaki, Junya Ohno, Katsunori Ozaki, Kiyokazu Yamamoto, Toshiyuki Matsuki

Patent number: 4671071Abstract: A device liquefies fuel vapor generated in a fuel tank. An arrangement prevents the liquefied fuel from escaping into the atmosphere. The liquefied fuel may be returned to the fuel tank. A canister may be used to trap fuel vapor which is not liquefied by the device.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1986Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Nissan Motor Company, LimitedInventor: Michiaki Sasaki

Patent number: 4632270Abstract: A fuel supply port structure of a fuel tank for use in vehicles comprises a filler tube with a neck portion and a fuel supply gun guide disposed within the filler tube. The fuel supply gun guide has an opening at the lower end thereof to receive a fuel gun inserted therethrough. The fuel supply gun guide also has a shutter plate pivotally connected so as to usually close the opening. The shutter plate pushed by the fuel gun inserted opens the opening, wherein the shutter plate has raised at the central portion thereof with which the fuel gun comes into contact, so that even if the fuel gun is insufficiently inserted, the free end portion of the shutter plate clears the flow of the fuel emanating from the fuel supply gun.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1984Date of Patent: December 30, 1986Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Michiaki Sasaki, Norio Sasaki, Nariaki Nishida
