  • Publication number: 20090024214
Abstract: An intra-ocular artificial lens with variable optical strength, having at least two optical elements, at least two of which are movable relative to each other in a direction extending transversely of the optical axis, wherein the optical elements have a form such that in different positions of the movable optical elements the artificial lens has a different optical strength, wherein the artificial lens has a fixed, positive optical basic strength wherein the variable optical strength caused by the relative movement of the movable elements is added to obtain the total optical strength of the artificial lens. Providing a different form results in the possibility of incorporating the greatest optical power in one of the optical elements. This optical element can then be optimized for the desired optical properties. The remaining optical element or the remaining optical elements can then be dimensioned for variation of the optical strength.

  • Publication number: 20080215146
Abstract: An intra-ocular artificial lens with variable optical strength, wherein the artificial lens comprises two optical elements which are movable relative to each other in a direction extending transversely of the optical axis, wherein the optical elements have a form such that in different relative positions they together have different optical strengths, wherein the movable optical elements are connected to positioning means which are adapted for coupling to the iris of the eye for the purpose of driving. This measure makes use of the fact that one or both of the optical elements can be displaced relative to each other through the driving of the natural orbicularis muscle of the iris in order to obtain an accommodating function.

  • Publication number: 20080062384
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for measuring the optical properties of an eye, comprising an optical signal generator and optical guide means leading from the optical signal generator in the direction of the eye to be examined, wherein the optical signal generator is adapted to project an image through an optical path comprising the optical guide means and onto a reflective structure in the eye to be examined, wherein the device is adapted to couple the optical guide means of the device to optical guide means of an optical medical instrument so that the optical path extends through the optical guide means of the optical medical instrument. Such an optical medical instrument can be formed by an operating microscope, a so-called split lamp or by a fundus camera.

  • Publication number: 20080046076
Abstract: The invention relates to an artificial intra ocular lens of variable optical power, comprising at least two optical elements which can be shifted relative to each other in a direction extending perpendicular to the optical axis wherein the optical elements have such a shape that they exhibit, in combination, different optical powers at different relative positions. This results in a construction which has such a low weight that it is applicable as an intra ocular lens of adjustable optical power. According to a first preferred embodiment the lens comprises positioning means the optical elements in the eye and driving means, which can be operated by the user to execute a movement of at least one of the optical elements relative to the other optical element. This embodiment can be used to correct the accommodation function.
